Changing the oil in my Toyota Land Cruiser 100/Lexus LX470

thanks for the video - FYI that is the wrong oil filter - you should use a YZZD (3) the D (1) is for the older 6 cyl engine - while it will fit it has too small of a capacity for the V8 engine - so you know for the future

I put 7qts in mine and the dipstick reads perfect every time.

We use Amsoil it's a bit pricey but proven to be better oil than Mobil 1 by Project Farm. I appreciate your videos regardless 🙂

Amsoil is definitely one of the best. If my budget allowed I would. I try to change the Mobil 1 every 3k miles to compensate

Yeah amsoil is king of oils for sure, pricey but worth it if you have the budget for it and just want the best of the best. On the other hand though, for us stateside/canadians, Pennzoil would come in 2nd place behind amsoil. and its more affordable too, usually goes on sale and has online mail in rebates. so u basically get it 15/17$ a jug. then u got the regular economy mid tier oils, mobil1, castrol, and kirkland brand, (with inflation recently, kirkland used to be 34.99 for 2x 5L jugs, and now its 44.99) after taxes, comes up to 52$ cad. which is alright. other brands are 36-40$ now for a jug. But yeah watched a ton of videos from Project farm and couple other guys, i never used kirkland oil before, but ima start now for this LX i got. and ill recommend it for other regular point a to b family cars

They sold you the wrong filter, it should be a 90915-YZZD3. The D1 will still work it’s just that the D3 is taller.

Don't bother, even synthetic is a waste of money. Just get the cheapest 5w30 available, as long as you change it every 5,000 miles it'll go forever.

A lot of it is just “industry/company secrets” so who knows. I still run castrol high mileage edge in mine either way

have u tried using toyotas yzzd3 oil filter over the d1? d3 has higher oil capacity, or will it be too tight using the taller filter

I could be wrong but I've read you should use the YZZD3 oil filter for the 8 cylinder engines, it is longer than the YZZD1

Love those little Autozone tags, they keep me straight! Although I’ve switched to changed my LC Oil every 5K so I just get it every 5k the odometer goes up fairly easy😝

I just did this on my 2000 Land Cruiser and I used Mobil 1 5W-30 "High Mileage" which has more detergents to clean the engine and maybe seal leaky gaskets. Your video helped a lot. I paid $49 for a 12 quart box at Walmart. Super cheap oil change! Used OEM filter but next time I'll use the Mobil 1 oil filter which seems to be better. (Maybe)
