I like to add some oil to the filter as it has been proven to improve lubrication on the restart, my two cents. Thanks for the great video and sharing. New subscriber.

Hi Greg... I have a 1999 Lx470 with 194k miles.... Was thinking about going with Full Synthetic... is there a problem switching over to full if its only had conventional prior to this?

Hey! So mine had conventional for the first 150k miles before switching to fill synthetic. The one thing you have to be mindful of is over time the seals can wear down, but gunk build up can fill those in. If you switch to full synthetic, the cleaners may remove that gunk and thereby exposing those worn down seals resulting in leaks. You can get high mileage full synthetic that contains seal swelling agents that can help keep those seals from leaking as the engine gets older. It is a slight risk to switch but most people find it worth it and don't experience any issues. Thanks!

It is my understanding that if you start to use the high millage oil you are not supposed to go back to using non high millage oil as the motor seals then rely on the additives. Not exactly sure how legit that is but just something for others to consider.

Thanks for the tip! From what I have researched, the opinions vary. I have used non High Mileage on some oil changes with no visibile/noticeable difference but the cost is barely higher for HiMi so I will get it from here on out!

what logic was that by saying "loosen the oil cap to let the oil out easier..." sounded as if your engine is a sealed system... LOL !

Thanks for the comment. 2 things. 1) It is not a sealed system, air can enter via places like the pcv valve and the crankcase vent. But it can't hurt to loosen the oil cap. 2) It is good practice to make sure you can loosen any fill cap before draining something. More so for differentials, but it is still good practice.

All good advice except one thing: change your oil every 3000-4500 miles on these beasts. Going over the service interval by 75% doesn’t seem wise to me. Yes Mobil 1 “says” they have a warranty, but why risk it?

Thanks for the comment! I've definitely thought about every 3-4k miles, but I've seen so much research saying 7500 is ok as well. Definitely best to do what feels most comfortable and peace of mind!

@@cruisinwithgreg one of the engineers that helped design the Nissan GT-R engine said no matter what car he has, he does oil changes every 2k km, the video is on Automotive Press’ channel. My Lexus sedan calls for 10k intervals and mandate synthetic but by the end of the 10k the oil looks horrible, concerning actually. After a my first 10k change (I bought the car at 54k miles), I started doing 5k changes.
