@@2clicksup910 question. I did the modification where you remove coils from the factory spring to lighten the pull weight. I reinstalled everything exactly like your videos and others. Now I almost completely lost my first stage. It’s a very small first stage followed by a rather stiff 2nd stage that breaks without any travel. Any idea what I may have done wrong where I have very little first stage?

@ maybe adjustment/s on the screw at the front and/or rear of the trigger group. And make sure everything is back properly and sitting as and where it should be. Sounds like CD a bit of trial and error will sort that out.

@@charltonlwalker I did the same mod removing 1 & 1/3rd coils & loosened the adjustment screw to try to lighten it a bit more & it worked fine for about 40 rounds but for some reason it lost the adjustment & got really shitty like you mentioned ….i tightened to adjustment screw back up to make the pull heavier & all is good now 🤷🏽‍♂️ try tightening the screw & hopefully it works …I have 3 Howa’s & the triggers are awesome as long as they hold the adjustment .

Both my Howa 223 & Weatherby 243 have 1.5lb triggers and they are only for fox shooting , nice and light ...

As I said, feels nice on the bench, but I prefer a slightly heavier trigger for hunting.

Hi Nick, I did the same exercise on my Howa heavy barrelled .223 recently. I put a two pound spring kit in, but considering going to one and half pounds as I only shoot from the bench. It's not a hunting rifle. I'm hoping to put the barrelled action into an MDT chassis at some point. I've also done this on my CZ 455 rimfire.

The 1.5 pound spring is really nice off a bench, but I like a little bit more control when hunting. I’ve only done the HOWA rifles; in fact, this was the last one I had to do, and it gave me the most grief for some reason. Oh well, you live and learn…

Why didn’t you loosen up the nut on the front and back out the screw to take the tension off getting the skinny spring in? Other than that, excellent video!

@@ronl384 I was able to get it done without undoing those screws. I was a bit harder to get things in properly, but it worked, which made me happy.

I don’t believe they have a code or part number as such, but I know they are suitable only fir the HOWA rifles with the HACT 2-Stage trigger with the 3-position safety.

If you take the smallest screwdriver out of that pack you can pry the c clips off without having it fly away and not scratch the phuck out of your trigger housing😉

Gunbloke's instructions advise you to close the bolt slowly after the spring installation. So is this a safe mod or not? I obviously don't want a slam fire if I am trying to do a quick followup shot.

Obviously test it first up after doing it (rifle empty of with a snap cap in the breach), but it should not be an issue. I’ve done quite a few and never had a drama. I’d be more concerned with the really light pull weights.

No not at all. Not the quickest postage in the world, but that’s probably as much Australia Post as anything. Never had an issue buying off Gunbloke.
