This is the aftershock of the red bee media centre incident, basically, all of the equipment that ran BBC, ITV, C4 and C5 was damaged after the fire sprinklers were set off directly above the equipment, short circuiting everything and knocking the channels off air, I can Remember executing our normal procedure for technical issues but nothing worked, we ended up getting a backup equipment gen set up and we got most of our equipment fixed, but there was still a huge aftershock and the technicians hated it .

Thank you for the interesting insight Edward and it’s interesting to hear it was fire sprinklers rather than a fire suppression system that certainly explains the level of damage.

Not quite accurate to describe it as sprinklers. Data centres use inert gas to remove oxygen out of the room to stop any fire once personnel are given a short period of time to evacuate the room. Damage though can arise from an acoustic shockwave due to the speed at which the gas enters the room. ​@@nsmmedia

I remember hearing it freeze up and worrying my mum had muted it to think something so I went to check and gulped and worried bake off was cancelled
