We are thrilled to announce the official opening of Australia’s first-of-its-kind prosthetics lab integrated in a comprehensive cancer hospital, here at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. This momentous occasion, which took place on Wednesday, April 10th, was made possible thanks to the incredible support of the late Lang Walker’s Family Foundation. Their generosity has enabled us to establish the Integrated Prosthetics and Reconstruction (IPR) Laboratory, a facility that is truly pioneering in its approach to rehabilitating head and neck cancer patients. The IPR Lab will also facilitate research, design, development, manufacturing, and commercialisation of innovative products for use in connection with craniomaxillofacial reconstruction.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Federal Health Minister Mark Butler and Federal Minister for the Environment Tanya Plibersek, as well as to the late Lang Walker and Walker Family Foundation, whose vision has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. The opening of this lab marks a monumental milestone in cancer care, promising improved outcomes and a brighter future for patients embarking on their journey to recovery. We are immensely proud to be leading the way in this transformative endeavour and eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on countless lives, both here in Australia and around the world.
