As a relatively new B-Mask fan, I’m 100% down with any new content that you make. The Fantastic Four one is my personal favorite, primarily because anyone, FF fan or not, can understand it without having to know prior knowledge about everything the team stands for. That kind of widespread appeal and enjoyment is found in all of your videos, so, by all means, take your time in making them as polished as you desire.

I used to think that I only wanted videos about videogames, from this channel, but then the Fantastic 4 video absolutely blew me out of the water, and watching your video about Better Call Saul, which I did not care about at all before, proved to me that I am very interested in watching ANYTHING that you are truly passionate about. I absolutely loved the CMTV video. Please keep up the good work. Take care of yourself. And keep being amazing.

I've been watching your videos for a bit and am always astounded by their insightfulness, production value, and sheer passion! Not bowing to the KZbin algorithm and instead focusing on what you are passionate about is ultimately what makes this channel so strong. That can make it hard to make it sustainable, but I've bit the bullet and become a Patron because channels like this are ultimately what I'm on KZbin for. Hope I'm not the only one and that this video sparks enough people for this to become self-sufficient! Be sure to plug your Patreon each video if you haven't already, it's never annoying and may help grow this channel which is to the benefit of both you and the viewers who love the videos! Best of luck Bandicoot Mask ;)

I’m really looking forward to your Marvel retrospective! I will always be thankful my recommended introduced me to your channel with your FF introspective, which is now one of my all time favorite videos on YT. You’re so extraordinary talented. I unfortunately didn’t realize I didn’t hit the bell when I subscribed (usually watch YT on my smart tv) but I remedied that. It’s refreshing to see any creator post a channel update with such transparency. Great to remind everyone what all goes into your retrospectives (and isn’t free) Please make sure you’re taking care of yourself (not to sound rude or assume you aren’t) after seeing more and more creators suffering from burnout and talking about it, it really makes me think about that more. Sorry my super thanks can’t be more right now, but it definitely won’t be the last one. I hope this helps! Keep up the amazing work you do and thanks for it! ❤️

I hope you’re able to reach your goal to make these videos more sustainable, they’re definitely worth the wait and are incredibly rewatchable, plus I love how varied your topics are. Would’ve never gotten into your amazing Fantastic Four video if the Scoobyverse, Better Call Saul and Spyro and Crash videos hadn’t gotten me hooked already, and still got a few I haven’t seen that I’m waiting for a good time to finally watch. Just watched the Monkey Island video (well the first one) recently and it was worth the wait, even like then when I’ve never played a single minute of a Monkey Island game it’s really entertaining and makes me want to try the first two out. Can’t wait for the upcoming videos :)

Really appreciate the transparency on this one; I’ve been on and off as a patron, but I feel like I’d like to try and support you again for a longer stretch. You’ve not only produced some of the highest quality videos i see on my feed, you even made some of my favorites on this platform, like, ever. The Fantastic Four retrospective makes me eternally grateful that you were willing to put in the time to share their charm to the world with such gravitas. This all being said, and i know how silly it sounds to say after I’ve given you a ton of pressure, don’t sweat it. You’re still a human who isn’t always gonna be able to stay at peak performance 100% of the time, and I’m sure your fans, myself included, will be perfectly fine with you taking your time. Godspeed Bmask!

Hi B, I sincerely wish you find more stability in this work. I love your videos, you hooked me since I first saw your Sam & Max video and sort of stuck around since. And honestly? One of the better decisions I could have made. Something about your approach to unfamiliar subjects makes them feel like they share some common ground. Echoing a lot of other people here, I'm more than happy to wait and see the polished final product. Maybe if you were a huge studio with dozen of writers and artists, I might expect regular content; but because these are *_your_* passion projects, I much prefer to see what you create in the best form it can possibly be, and I'll wait as long as it takes for you to put everything together from the video dungeon.
@BMask2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! It took me a while to realise that doing what I do alone is actually not normal, and I think a lot of channels realise that the bigger the projects get. I've learnt how to ask people for help as the years have gone on but hopefully while maintaining the qualities people enjoy about my content, and I really hope I can continue to live up to that as I go on.
@peterwalker84662 жыл бұрын
@@BMask That definitely makes sense, and I don't think asking for help with graphics/voices/music/etc. is a bad thing at all, and I'm glad it's a skill your learned and improved over time. The external help does really add to quality of the video as well. For instance, the voice acting on the F4 video was stellar! I think what I and a lot of fans appreciate is just the whole cohesiveness of your videos and the insights you have into whatever topics you are passionate about and presenting. To me, that's the magic ingredient to your videos that I'm always happy to patiently wait for you to get right; to really nail the analysis, conceptualize, and articulation. That's the piece that I'm happy waiting for you to get "just so", instead of you just pumping out a video that's "mostly on brand". Keep up the amazing work, and hopefully my praise doesn't add any extra pressure, because my intention was to do the opposite 😬

Thanks for the transparency with the update man! You do seem to have a very capacious library of subject matter you want to cover, whether it’s comics, video-games, theatre, etc. I’d broadly consider you a nerd-culture aficionado if anything else. If you want newcomers to understand your channel a little bit more, then maybe segment your brand a little bit? Like when you do a retrospective about a game franchise, maybe dub it “Video-Game Corner” or if you’re incisively analyzing a critically-lauded, yet niche television series, refer to it as “Observing the Silver Screen.” Obviously these are just hastily put together titles but segregating different topics might make new viewers a little less disoriented when they first arrive. You have a knack for editing and sharp commentary so it’d be a shame for people to overlook that just because the channel lacked an overall focus.

Had to take back my pledge recently as I'm in a similar situation, but will gladly support you again once I'm more financially stable. In terms of content you could offer on the patreon, I feel like unscripted content is the way to go (helps me put out several videos a week) and I'd love to just hear your thoughts on comic recommendations. It's a media I'm interested in and even got Mervel Unlimited for a few while some years ago, but it's just so overwhelming. Getting some solid recommendations for specific stories or some limited series would be great. Maybe do a poll here on the community tab so see what people would like to get as a reward.

I do prefer your current setup of talking about anything, cribbing off of whats currently going on doesnt really gel with your scripting I think, feels like youd need to rush things to keep it topical for the algorithm to pick up. Besides, through your videos Ive picked up watching Hill Street Blues and reading old FF. I much prefer a "Hey, look at this shit" approach.

I like to catch YMS streams and watch his VODs for his script writing and I like watching KZbinr editing streams. (In Alan Partridge voice) Idea for a programme... "You Asked For It" where you have the host B-Mask answer a bunch of questions that patrons and ko-fi donators asked where it's a looser format, less having to do so much editing. They ask you questions like "Who's your favourite power ranger" or "Do you think Bill Murray should cameo in a Fantastic Four film and WHO should he play?" Or "Who's your favourite Ruttle? @BMask2 жыл бұрын
You know I tried to do a sponsorship once and it got really confusing. They weren't entirely legit, and a lot of the other sponsors seemed like weird bots with no actual deal on the table or things I couldn't work into my channel in any way I'd be happy with. I like the people who've made it work and it would certainly be a great way to cover my costs but, like, I really don't know what I'm doing in that department, I feel completely incompetent in that department.
