Watching this brings back a lot of great memories! I was just a kid at the time, but I can remember watching WGHP, WFMY, and WXII.

More rare TV 8 videos! If only you can get a newscast from WFMY and WXII during this time period.

I take it for when the audio is silent during those ABC promos, that TV8 had local-area pre-emptions(either a late night movie in place of BARETTA, or maybe something like a college basketball game in place of the WELCOME BACK KOTTER and John Denver shows).

I grew up and Greensboro and remember all the local ads well. I also remember Fred Blackman and Frank Deal who was a bit "eccentric"...

Movie of the Week had become part of ABC's Late Night rotation right around that time. Two years earlier, the MOTW had ended its prime-time run on the network, so ABC reprised it for its late package.

It didn't sink in initially, but this was indeed from a broadcast of ABC Late Night--which was pretty much that network's answer to what the CBS Late Movie was like by then. That would also help to explain the repurposed Movie of the Week bumpers (as ABC Late Night literally reran old MOTWs, sometimes preceded by a sitcom rerun)--as well as the inclusion of Police Story in one of the network promos (since that show was among the ones that were reran during ABC Late Night, even though it originally aired on NBC). ABC Late Night started in early '76 (supplanting the more-varied Wide World of Entertainment) and lasted until late '82.

Now I remember, by seeing the TV8 logo, that this station aired a "Miss Young America(?)" pageant on the night of June 24th, just over 4 months after this aired; Rob Reiner's *Free Country* would've aired that night on ABC. Earlier that same day, we(meaning myself, kid brother, and Mom and Dad) left New York City(Brooklyn) because we were moving to Louisiana, and pulled over that night in Burlington.

Other than the paint colors, WGHP had an identical news set to WEWS and KIRO, which were both Frank Magid clients.

5:35 - 99% of the bloopers on Kermit Schaefer's many "Blooper" albums were fakes, specially recorded for the albums.
