I think it may be because the British ethos is not all about winning at any cost [as in the U!!S!!A!!🙄], but in losing with style with a smile. Good call on saving all your tokens, now all the cards have increased in difficulty. Pretty sure they have rebalanced the combos too, ive just done 7 games on easy, lost 4 of them and not once got about a 10% combo, and only got that twice, all the rest have been 5 or below. This says the best of series 13, but according to the episode listing on All4, there are only 3 episodes to series 13. The clips from the episode with Jon and David and Roisin and Joe, that's from series 12 and James Acaster wasn't in series 13.

he's somewhere else, probably doing interesting comedy. no shade on cats does countdown, but clearly the whole point was to do a form of safe, comfortable and reliable panto. this absolutely has a place..... as evidenced by the longevity of the series. there's nothing inherently wrong about leaving the envelope exactly where it is. but these youtube compilations are a further abstraction. i don't know if the word Acaster was selected by an algorithm or an intern, but this may be a distinction without a difference

To have a sore was once a really, really bad thing. Now a little ointment on the lip and it's gone in a few days. We retain some of the meaning of this word with "bedsores," which, if you don't know what they are, sound rather harmless, when in fact they lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people a year.
