Timothy Green I agree. I also sometimes find it annoying that the majority of us non-flamboyant gays are underrepresented, but Panti really was such a fundamental, eloquent member of the yes side. Her Noble Call, while done in drag, did wonders for normalising gay people and showing what it's like to be on the other side of discrimination.

ofosusam Ireland was the first to do it by popular vote. There have been easily over a dozen countries that made same-sex marriage legal beforehand and New Zealand is one of them but definitely wasn't first.

Yul Hubbart 62-63 voted yes, 37-38 no but sure that includes absolutely everyone who didnt vote yes, all spoiled, votes with anything other than a yes/no on them like pictures drawn. In any regard support always drops close to an Irish referendum: its in the 70s on any given day and voting by polls we have shown people will carry on having 'traditional' families meanwhile everyone can just get along. Society is not doomed it will flourish, economically is where most people suffer.

He's a drag queen, it's a performance. But he was interviewed because he's become a figure in Ireland where on the national public broadcaster's Saturday night TV show he mentioned some public right wing figures and said they are sometimes homophobic. The people then sued the broadcaster for 80,000€ and since then we haven't been able to call homophobia homophobia. The people who sued have said stuff in the past about "buggery" being the only difference between two brothers and a gay couple, and have said that homosexuality isn't natural. So anyway that's why he was interviewed, he started a bit of a movement here a year ago in the lead up to the referendum.
