Turkey Syria earthquake: more incredible rescues but death toll passes 25,000

More than 25,000 people are now confirmed to have died in Turkey and Syria, after the powerful earthquakes which struck the region on Monday.

As rescue teams continue to search through destroyed buildings that number is expected to rise.
Incredibly, some people are still being pulled out alive, after more than 130 hours trapped under rubble in temperatures well below freezing.

I feel sad for all these people who might have heard the rescue teams drilling, shouted for help but were never heard. One of the guys were saying he was shouting but he was not heard so he had to dig a hole to be heard. It took him time. He saved his family. But how many of them were alive waiting. 8 out of 10 news footage are about the quake in turkey, and very little is heard of the syrian provinces hit by the same. very very tragically, those provinces in syria are under rebel control with the help of the turkish army which operated in the broader region even one day after the earthquakes. that's obscene. which makes humanitarian aid and rescues even more difficult.

Fly over some Trauma Psychiatrists because the worst is yet to come for survivors. Of course, some will mentally and emotionally fair better than others, but the ones who are challenged will need help to find hope in the fact that they are still here.

The images shown from Syria in this report are from Syrian regime controlled territory, and so it is unacceptable that the journalist describes the people there as having faced years of civil war and hardship. This is simply not true, the destruction and wide scale horrific violence that Syrians have been subject to has always taken place in territory that the Assad regime does not control and has always been on Syrians that oppose him. The Syrians in these images are those that have overall accepted the Assad regime, I'm not saying they do not deserve an equal amount of support as anyone else struggling right now, but certainly not at the expense of those who stood up against the Assad regime and are now stuck in the middle of nowhere with no support, no access and with journalists who don't even represent their stories properly.
