democracy isn't a remedy for all problems. but west wants stability and freedom and prosperity in not just middle east but everywhere. not out of its kindness but because that's the global foundation and infrastructure for business/economic growth and thriving. just like when a country thrives, all parts of it thrive in some way as well. so this global prosperity and peace is in the interest of west(as well as other normal countries). western powers realized that traditional Imperialism(that Russia still pursues) is not sustainable and collective growth is the future. that's why England or British Empire the biggest Empire in history just gave up its colonies and became one of the smallest countries in the world(yet it has now higher per capita income and overall wealth than during imperial period). you can even see some sort of change in some former ruthless dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia or China too

Dear Omid, I am impressed by your work and your unwavering passion for comedy. In reference to the proposed change for Middle East and world peace, it is imperative to delve deeper into the historical context of Western imperialism. The statement highlights a critical view regarding the economic disparities between the Global North and the Global South. The Global North, typically comprising economically developed countries, often wields significant influence over global economic structures and policies. This can create barriers for the Global South, which includes less economically developed regions, in making systemic changes necessary for sustainable development or altering the status quo. Key Points: 1. Economic Disparity: The economic gap between the Global North and South often translates into unequal access to resources, technology, and markets, making it challenging for the Global South to implement changes that could reshape the global economic landscape. 2. Influence and Control: The Global North’s influence over international financial institutions and trade agreements means they can set terms that may not always favour the economic growth or transformation of the Global South. 3. Potential for Change: Transforming the global economy requires collaborative efforts from both regions. Encouraging trade, fair economic policies, and investment in sustainable development can help bridge these divides. 4. Sustainability: Addressing economic disparities is not only about fairness but also about sustainability. A more balanced global economy could lead to a more stable and sustainable world. 5. Policy and Governance: For substantial change, there needs to be reform in international policies that allow the Global South to have a more significant say in global economic decisions, coupled with domestic policies that support sustainable growth. Considerations: * Investment in Education and Technology: Investing in education and technology can empower the Global South to innovate and compete more effectively in the global market. * Debt Relief and Aid: International efforts to provide debt relief and development aid can aid in reducing the economic burdens faced by these countries, enabling them to focus on sustainable development. * Global Cooperation: Encouraging partnership between the Global North and South can lead to more equitable economic outcomes, benefiting both regions.

The danger in saying we are all one humanity/body, is that you may then impose your values on the weak party thousands of miles away thinking that your values are universal, but in reality it will be preceived as you oppressing the weak party which then leads to more conflict, the thing you wanted to prevent in the first place.

I love Omid Jalili, his views and his comedy. There is one mistake in what he said, though. The poem he recited towards the end of the video about splitting the atom, is not a religious text, Baha’i or otherwise. It is from Hatef Isfahani an 18th century Iranian poet, who lived around 100 years before creation of Baha’i faith.

*EXACTLY. Plans to expel and rob Palestinians of their homeland started in 1917 with the Balfour Declaration and implemented gradually by Britain under its so-called Mandate, which is a fancy world for occupation. Palestinians have been expelled from 1947, even before the actual creation of the Zionist state of Israel. There were no Mullahs in Iran in 1917, or in 1947 or in 1948 (when Israel officially existed) or in 1967 (when Israel occupied more Palestinian territory. And this fat dude, who portrays his Baha'i religion as a religion with awesome humanitarian values want us to believe that doing regime change in Iran (swapping the despotic Mullahs for another despotic Shah) will solve the occupation of Palestine. This fat dude needs to PI$$ 0ff.*

Men and women do have equal status in Islam. But men don’t always acknowledge this( being human and prone to error). One Islamic saying is that ‘ Heaven lies beneath your mother’s feet’. A man approached Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) and asked ‘ who should I honour most? My father or my mother? He asked this question 3 times and each time Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) answered ‘your mother’. The fourth time he answered ‘your father’.

What disappoints me is that there are many many accredited academia and practitioners in foreign policy and the ME issue and they invite a comedian to talk about the Israel Palestine issue. When high profile people like John Mearsheimer, Jeffrey Sachs or Dennis Fitz have already clearly explained the U.S, CIA ... Israel and BB relationships to the entire ME issue, why listening to this?

Normally Baha'is are stopped by their organisation from talking about politics. Djalili seems to have been given a licence to express political opinions and surprise surprise they are against the Iranian government. His over emphasis on Iran's involvement in the events of October 7 and his refusal to condemn Israel's genocide against the people of Gaza is in itself an indictment of his phoney remarks on behalf of the brotherhood of the human race.

People who dont want to hear about the middle east are the right ones. You cant fix homelessness, suicide and imported slavery and exported mysery at home yet you want to be all up in the middle easts business just becuase the news at 10 which is now 24/7 told you thats what caring people do. Yes have optimism and hope but direct it at reality.

Echoing what OD says, the threat of nuclear war proliferation should have been a unify humanity moment. It's a bit of a downer but it may be our fate. We all don't/can't agree to that common concept of humanity. Great interview dangerous tho it may be
