A “decisive breakthrough” and “a turning point” for Northern Ireland.

Rishi Sunak is hopeful that his deal with the EU over post-Brexit trading rules will have something for everyone, including the return of power sharing at Stormont.
It's taken months of negotiations to come up with a framework agreed at Windsor, and Mr Sunak has promised MPs will get a vote once they've had time to consider all the details in full.

So let me get this straight. Steve Baker and his mates shat themselves and then smeared their poop everywhere, then spent five years cleaning it up and now everyone is congratulating them for a great cleaning job? what

Europe has not caused turmoil in the conservative party, poor management and governance in the conservatives has been the cause.

'The turmoil Europe has brought to the conservative party'. So the party suffers multiple personality disorder, but let's blame it on Europe.

Don't wanna name any names, but somebody has tried very hard to sell his political (BrexiTory) opponents a dud today, as practically all of the "new" proposals were already suggested by the EU a long time ago, namely in October of 2021, as posted on EU's website at the time. Frankly, I'm surprised Ursula played along so nicely, and even managed to keep a straight face during their joint press announcement today, instead of rolling over the floor with uncontrollable laughter.

So, basically, after threatening to immediately break it, the Tories now have agreed to respect the agreement they wrote, got elected on and signed off with the EU. Now the EU has to pretend that Sunak has achieved something new, whilst the text mainly written by EU teams, in order to give him 'a win.' Little Britain.

Although I dont particularly like Sunak, or Van der Leyen for that matter, you cant help but notice that finally the grown ups are taking charge of the situation. Even "Brexit Hardman Steve Baker" seems to have a soft side, and all the better for it.

this deal looks like a decent improvement to what was before and it's okay to be glad about that

The Windsor agreement solidifies NI's position in the UK, as NI has the best of both worlds with free trade to both the UK and the EU. Why would NI wish to leave this happy arrangement and unify with Ireland at the loss of its free trade with GB? This should be nirvana for the DUP, as an economic disincentive to Irish reunification and thereby a consolidation of NI within the UK, but instead, based on first responses, the DUP's Sammy Wilson and Iain Paisley want to throw out the Windsor Framework. This provides the greatest possible insight into the DUP motivation for staying away from Stormont, they are wiling to sacrifice the prosperity of the citizens of NI, who enjoy this economic advantage, rather than let a Sinn Fein member be the First Minister as voted for by the people of NI.

Rejoin the single market and end this madness. You had a referendum to leave the EU, so why can't you have a referendum and ask the people what kind or relationship they want to have with EU? I bet the majority would vote to be part of the single market again.

So, we are celebrating a change to the NI protocol which, in fact it looks like a reasonable improvement to the original agreement. But, here's the thing, we were told by ex PM Boris Johnson that it was all sorted (actually I recall him using the phrase "oven ready") so we are celebrating our PM sorting out what was not done properly when he was Chancellor and something in which he would have had a say? In reality it seems the the Government is putting right something they previously messed up, not really anything to be very proud of then.

Sunak has come through with the goods when most of his party was against him. If it werent for the abysmal performance from the Truss government, we would have probably sold everything to get to the end of this. I bet there are many who hate this simply because he doesn't fit their image of a PM that laid this massive issue to bed.
