Fun Fact the planned sequel for Batman and Robin was gonna go back to its dark ages and was gonna have Nicholas Cage to be scarecrow and Courtney Love as Harley Quinn and the thing is Instead of Harley being the lover of Joker she was going to be the Daughter of Joker from the first film and there was going to be a scene where Batman gets hit by the fear toxin The original Villains that Batman originally fought would return as an illusion and Jack Nicholson would return as the Joker he even agreed to be in it. Also Robin would be turned into NightWing, but due to Batman and Robin being a huge failure it was canceled. Now personally I wish they made it but to everyone else it would've probably been bad heck maybe even better than Batman and Robin.

If you don't know, commercial break kicks in when Gorden reveals himself (known to be dead) as he catches the Joker. All the build-up of the movie crashes, right before climax of the movie starts; flow of the movie, the mood, tention, hype cut. So yeah. To person like me, Batman Returns (1992) or Batman (1989) is still my best Batman movie.

I really saw what you were saying about stopping Dark Knight at Harvey's disfigurement and Rachel's demise. That would've been a great cliffhanger for a 2 part movie. In hindsight, it might've been either good or bad relating to Heath Ledger's death. On the good side, maybe Ledger needed that break and getting off the role early might've saved him from his mental health decline and self-destruction. On the other hand, things might've played out the same and the producers would've been left scrambling to find a replacement actor, who let's be real, probably (not definitely, but probably) wouldn't have hit the mark the same way. All in all, the movie's runtime, while long, didn't FEEL long, so I didn't have a quarrel with it. But I knew a couple others who did feel the length.

I never watched any batman movies before batman & Robin. So I have a soft spot for it. It's my favourite movie visually and special effects. The costumes still hold up. And it's the movie appearance of Mr Freeze and poison ivy (ever) for decades. I liked that Alfred had a character arc or development. He's not an immortal old man plot device. He will die and has cancer in the movie. So it's a soild reason to bring in batgirl. Ultimately, its still the most progress of the Bat-family for decades. Whilst every reboot never makes any progress or breaks new ground.

We got to see his entire character arc from self-obsessed billionaire technocrat to one of the greatest heroes in the MCU. Mark Hamill was my favorite Joker because while yes they all act insane and create chaos Hamill seems to be the one who has the most fun doing it. He’s even laughed his head off on numerous death situations. The only actor I think did this better was Heath Ledger because he made the Joker out to be both crazy and terrifyingly brilliant at the same time which worked so well that I didn’t know whether to laugh or be freaking intimidated. When it comes to Jack Nicholson, I still loved his performance and it could be argued that others just improved what the 1989 Batman film started.

Actually, my favorite thing about Batman Returns is what Doug doesn’t like... The Penguin. Tim Burton stated he never thought The Penguin’s original style justified his nickname and that is why he wanted to give DeVito such a monstrous appearance, combined with what I truly believe is by far one of his most amazing performances ever... Now, I do notice a little bit of his character of Louie De Palma (from Taxi) on his performance but that is not a bad thing at all. We all expected that Jack Nicholson was going to be an incredible Joker and he obviously knocked it out of the park, but with Danny DeVito it wasn’t a safe bet. Don’t get me wrong, DeVito is not a bad actor by any means but he is not Nicholson nor Anthony Hopkins, yet his role of The Penguin simply blew me away, so much, that from that moment on I really started to become more interested about The Penguin as a character... Oh, and I also bought his Neca 1/4 scale figure because it looks so awesome.

Fun fact the joker was going to be in the third dark night but heath leger died before he could do the role so they decided to not put him in it

Speaking of Inception, when are you going to review that? It's been long enough, and Bum's pretty much a background character now.

I have a ranking of all the Batman movies animated and live action in IMDB, there's like 50. But here's my ranking of the ones he did from worst to best: Batman & Robin Justice League Batman V Superman The Batman Batman Forever (underrated) Batman Returns Batman 1989 Batman Mask of the Phantasm Dark Knight Rises Batman Begins The Dark Knight

I'm not typically a Tim Burton fan, but I really dug Batman Returns, even more than Batman '89 itself. It's a shame he got taken off the series.

This Bat-Package spans how long I've watched the Nostalgia Critic. Now, we need a video on the 1966 Batman show and movie.

Just realizing how early Critic going kookoo sounds like Bette Middler

I'll at least say this, that if George Clooney was playing Batman in something more seriously handled properly... I COULD see him being a better Batman, has a good voice for the role, and definitely can see him as Bruce Wayne fine enough... He just ended up signing up for the worst Batman project possible was all... Also, Dark Knight Rises' Robin... I'm disappointed I didn't get to see him in the role PROPERLY for a 4th movie, because I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an actor, he is fantastic in everything I've seen him in, especially enjoyed his contributions to "Inception" as well. So... For the movie to end on his character claiming the name of Robin, and to see him about ready to interact with the bat cave... To see him get ready to become Robin... It's a shame, because while he isn't as young as Robin normally is portrayed as, he's easily my favorite choice for a live action Robin... I'd have loved to see Christopher Nolan pull off a Teen Titans movie in the same universe, just to see him in the role more.
