Honestly the bashing of will and Elizabeth is really weird and stupid, there's a reason the first 3 movies are really good, and it's a large part because of them, they play pivotal roles in the story, sure the setup to reintroduce them to the story is a little contrived, but both are good in all of them, just compare 2 and 3 to 4 and 5

In 'At World's End', there are 3-4 small buckets leading up to the big one that Davey Jones is standing in. The implication is he walked up to shore and then one foot strides the small buckets to end up in the large one. Visually explained quite clearly I'd say.

- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Meet Captain Jack Sparrow, a charismatic and cunning pirate who has his ship stolen by the cruel Barbossa. Along with the blacksmith Will Turner, who is in love with the governor's daughter Elizabeth Swann, he embarks on an adventure to recover the Black Pearl and break the curse that turns the pirates into skeletons at night. Get ready for lots of action, humor and rum in this movie that started the saga! - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: Jack Sparrow is in trouble again! He owes a debt to the fearsome Davy Jones, the lord of the seas, who commands the ghost ship Flying Dutchman and the monster Kraken. To get rid of the pact, he needs to find Davy Jones' heart, which is hidden in a mysterious chest. But he is not the only one who wants the heart: the cunning Lord Cutler Beckett, of the East India Company, is also after it to control the oceans. And there is also the love triangle between Will, Elizabeth and Jack, which will keep you cheering! - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End: After being swallowed by the Kraken, Jack Sparrow is trapped in the world of the dead. His friends need to rescue him before it's too late. For that, they go to Singapore, where they find Captain Sao Feng, who has a map to the end of the world (where Jack is, not New Russia). There, they face an epic battle against Davy Jones and Beckett, who want to end the era of pirates. And there is also the surprising revelation of who Will's father is and Elizabeth's fate as queen of pirates! - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: Jack Sparrow is looking for the legendary Fountain of Youth, but he is not alone. He meets an old flame, the beautiful and cunning Angelica, who is the daughter of the infamous Blackbeard, the most feared pirate of the seven seas. They board the ship Queen Anne's Revenge, where they face mermaids, zombies and Spaniards. And there is also the return of Captain Barbossa, who now works for the king of England and has a personal grudge with Blackbeard. - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales: Jack Sparrow is out of luck and out of rum. He is pursued by Captain Salazar, an old enemy who escaped from the Devil's Triangle with his crew of ghostly killers. Jack's only hope is to find the powerful Trident of Poseidon, which grants its owner total control over the seas. But he is not alone in this quest: he counts on the help of Henry Turner, Will and Elizabeth's son, who wants to free his father from the curse of the Flying Dutchman; and Carina Smyth, an astronomer accused of witchcraft for her intelligence.

I don't mind this movie, I don't think it's the worst of the pirates movies, I'd argue that's more Pirates 5. But there are a lot of holes and flaws with it. Characters will do and say things that don't line up with pervious movies or the straight up don't make sense. A lot of their personalities are downplayed or just off. Also, the CG, while not horrible, does feel a bit over used, and while it's not bad in terms of tone, it doesn't seem as energised as the other pervious movies. Curse had a lot of movement and cool locations, Chest had witty humour and a threat that was quite tangible and works well to Jack's character...World's End just meanders, we never get a sense that things are moving for either side we're only told and I'd rather a move made me feel the energy of the world rather than telling me of the energy of the world. Now counter to that point, the oceans are under the rule of the villains...but why doesn't it feel that way, The team sail around for hours without any major threats, most of the are far away and the only big threat we see is when Sao Fang capture the Pearl and Beckett is behind. Also that last battle was disappointing, only seeing the Dutchman and the Pearl as the fighting vessels and none of the other pirates doing anything...nah, it was a slight letdown at the climax, the only hope was the energy it had which was decent energy and some decent jokes. but honestly, you feel the incompleteness of the script with this movie, it's not very good but it's not the worst.

The 4 questions from 12:15 can be answered by assuming they didnt need to go far or deep to get to where they needed, just go straight till they hit the anchor, i dont remember how far they go in the movie but a better one is probably how that boat manages to hold that air and how Jack knew it would.
@liza6021 Жыл бұрын
I belive this was the plan. They could walk a short distance on foot to remain unnoticed and then could easily leave the boat and reach the ship swimming
@yami1228 ай бұрын
That actually is how that would work They had two people walk under water with a bow with air in it you trap the air in the boat and because there's air taking up the space Water cannot rush into that spot as the air is trapped has nowhere to go so it can't be pushed away And two things can't occupy the same space so if you occupy A space with something that cannot be moved away because it has nowhere to go then water cannot fill that space

He's always been seen to me as a conniving and deceitful strategist, seeing the use of Davy Jones as a way to go up in the world as well as get revenge on Jack Sparrow. I like how more serious the third movie was because, well, it WAS the end of a trilogy (at the time) where a bunch of stories were coming to a close. If memory serves, in 1984 it would have been the first R rated Disney movie ever made.

But if it was dropped to a pg that means it wasn’t an R-rated movie. If it wasn’t released as an R rating, I don’t think it counts

The floating dress wasn't just focused on for the sake of focusing on it. It was showing how quickly someone can go from goofing off with their crew. to suddenly being dragged down to your death.

I don't think Jack's punishment was being surrounded by himself, I think he just went insane.

Fun fact: when I was a younger lad I couldn’t remember the names of these movies. To me they where: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Second One, The Long One and The One With Blackbeard.

After having watched Salazars Revenge. I can honestly say, i think if Pirates of the caribbean keeps this up, it may be as influencial and good as James Bond movies was in the 60s. Infact its just a legacy of its own now. Its just a really fun entertaining stuff. I am glad to be part of it. Johnny Depp is like our generation of Sean Connery in a sense

Honestly, for all the shit Pirates 3 gets from dorky critics and some of the audience, it's actually my favorite of the series, and I'm going to explain why. While I admit, it drags on too long in some scenes, and it gets too dramatic at times, I have to admire the surrealism of the "pirate afterlife". There are so many clever ideas they brought to life in this movie. I also like the overall theme of pirates from around the world joining forces against an oppressive government. The idea is very similar to One Piece, where all pirates seek some form of freedom in a world ruled by a tyrannical World Government, and that's one of the most popular manga/anime of all time. One Piece is basically Pirates of the Caribbean, if all named characters had super powers, and the British Empire ruled literally the entire world (besides a few isolated countries). Although, even One Piece keeps most pirates neutral, and there are more factions at play in this complex story. It was much better explained in a book, in which Jack used to work for Becket who was a slave trader at the time. Jack quit and became a pirate because he knew slavery was messed up. That's how their rivalry began. I'll admit, had that backstory been in Pirates 2 or 3, it would have made his over- the- top death more satisfying. But to be fair, just the fact that Becket is even hanging children for associating with pirates would mean he's an extremist, even by those days' standards. The Pirate Lords were explained in detail in the bonus features, and their backstories were really cool. The music was also epic, taking the Pirates- theme into otherworldly directions, and I absolutely loved the Will/Elizabeth love theme (despite their blandness). The music is a journey on its own. All- in- all. I LOVE Pirates if the Caribbean: At Worlds End! While I do acknowledge it has some narrative problems, I still love it. It's a guilty pleasure, if you will. I will always see it as the epic conclusion to the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Yes, trilogy. Pirates 4 was meh, and Pirates 5 was straight up bad, IMO.

They wrote books!? well how the hell is anybody supposed to know all of this cool stuff if they don't explain it in the movies and they don't know the BOOKS exist? That would have made the third movie a little bit better if we just. Knew this stuff from the movie and didn't have to go searching for books that I guarantee 90% of the audience DID NOT KNOW existed. Knowing that it kind of makes it a little bit worse for me. (I knew about the slave trader thing and about Jack leaving because of that, can't remember where I heard it from but it should have been mentioned in the second movie like you said.)

the movie actually cut one of the BEST character moments for Jack during his talk with Beckett. Specifically WHY he broke away from the East India Trading Company. It's because they wanted him to traffick people. The movie being At World's End.

Jones got into the bucket by stepping in a line of buckets that can be seen in the immediate background. It's simple environmental storytelling.

So these guys are complaining that 'At the world end' wasnt goofy enough? I bet you also complained about Star wars episode 3 and 6 or maybe even 5, for beeing too serious, right? This is a Finale of a Trilogy, what else should it be? Just fun and games with no consequences?
