"It's rebooting!" "It shouldn't be doing that!" We'll be saying this more as the years go by because screenwriters with original concepts are becoming sparse throughout Hollywood.
@Moosemoose1 Жыл бұрын
Sad thing is that there ARE many good screenwriters writing new, bold, experimental scripts, but the film industry (like every other capitalist industry) is so single-mindedly fixated on massive, immediate profits that they just refuse to take any risks on them, instead, they rely on safe formulas that they know will draw in money, and milk em for as long as physically possible by forcing the formula into EVERY main major film they make until they get worn and unprofitable. They choose bad directors and writers because they don't care about quality, they want to make as much money as possible and use their formulas to get it, not the style of any director or the script. They are the ULTIMATE scavengers, as, like vultures, they will immediately descend on any major successful film and analyze it so they can force those tropes, character types, storylines, factions, even cinematography, color patterns/schemes, plot points/twists, etc. Onto their future films to get on the gravy train. This happened with Marvel - the first films were such a financial success the film industry studied what made them successful and applied those findings to nearly every major film they produced since, which is why so many movies oddly feel like Marvel movies today - like Jurassic World. It's capitalism.

Only in a matter of time will the audiences fight back with such mundane (or rather paint-by-numbers) movies and stop paying for such drivel. Imagine a future where there's a movie industry equivalent to the Video Game Crash of 1983. Too much mediocrity will make even the most casual watchers say 'no thanks'. To fans it'd wither even faster. There is a finite selection of heroes one could make a movie out of. How many more _Fast and Furious_ sequels can there be? How about a fourth rendition of _Halloween_ ... but in SPACE!? @@Moosemoose1
@Moosemoose1 Жыл бұрын
@DareToBeDeviant Sadly, there are far too many braindead fans who just want to see dinosaurs fight, regardless of the quality of the movie. So many people have grown up their entire lives with this dumbed down crap and have already been conditioned to accept and enjoy these kind of films. So long as they keep going to the movies and paying for mindless crap that's what we're going to get unless studios are forced to change (or we get rid of capitalism). OH and ten bucks I guarantee you when the gravy train thickens they'll introduce the next big trend: Brand Crossovers - where they'll get 2 dying franchises and make a one-off film (or more) where both main casts meet just so the studio can keep the megabucks up - because that's what film studios only care about: franchises.
@AVdE100007 ай бұрын
@@DareToBeDeviant Exactly. We're already seeing it with Disney's absolutely apocalyptic box office summer last year, while Dune is absolutely killing it. The MCU is falling to pieces thanks to fatigue, while Spiderverse and The Boys are getting everyone hyped. It's obviously going to take more than a few outliers to completely shift an entire industry, but the current status quo is clearly unsustainable. So wether they like it or not, the investors are going to have to leave the comfort zone of throwing increasing amounts of money to increasingly safe and bland projects, and start listening to the creative minds that Hollywood is infested with, yet have gone completely ignored for decades. It's gonna take time, but I'm optimistic. Hell, we might even get out of the CGI clusterfuck hellscape that we're currently in and start seeing practical filmmaking more often again.

I actually have an idea for the movie for, instead of mutated locus, I would make it like there's a prehistoric disease that was accidentally brought back with the dinosaurs slowly killing everyone and the antidote is somewhere in the dino's DNA, mainly Blue's daughter since it's the only naturally born dinosaur in the movie that we know of. I know it's not better, but it still involves the dinosaurs instead of bugs.

This movie took the coolest concept that could be used with dinosaurs, having them roam the world and interact with a human-dominated Earth, and did nothing with it. They took the coolest thing you could put into a movie, dinosaurs, and put them in the backseat. They made the main villain of the movie mutated locust and that one guy who appeared literally once in the very first film just so they could make a convoluted "save the environment" message that wasn't even fully focused on the message. They took every last microbe of potential this movie had and sucked it out to replace it with a placebo, that being the original cast returning and reuniting, thinking that would somehow make up for everything. I was bothered by how they completely re-wrote her origin story - that she was a clone of James Cromwell's dying daughter he made coz he was losing her, and that Hammond fell out with him over the ethics of human cloning. Then suddenly, it turns out she was made by her mother, so why wasn't that mentioned in Fallen Kingdom, and why wasn't Hammond angry with her instead of James Cromwell? And when they brought her to Wu's lab, why was Dodson angry about it when she was key to fixing it all? Another fun fact about this film: Trevorrow stated that the film would be set around the world, and said that the idea of Henry Wu being the only person who knows how to create a dinosaur was far-fetched "after 30 years of this technology existing" within the films' universe. Additionally, the film would focus on the dinosaurs that were freed at the end of Fallen Kingdom, but it would not depict dinosaurs terrorizing cities, an idea that Trevorrow considered unrealistic. Instead, Trevorrow was interested in a world where "a dinosaur might run out in front of your car on a foggy backroad, or invade your campground looking for food. A world where dinosaur interaction is unlikely but possible--the same way we watch out for bears or sharks. We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don't go to war with them." Trevorrow said that the film would also be about Owen and Claire's redemption, and their responsibility to take care of Maisie, a cloned girl from the previous film. Trevorrow said about the film and its predecessors, "I have a dinosaur movie that I've always wanted to see, and it took two movies to earn it."

Another great episode from "The Motherfucking T-Rex". When I first heard of this movie and saw the original cast was returning I made the mistake of ignoring my better judgement and I got my hopes up. Then I watched it the day after its release. About 2/3 into the movie, when I should have been invested I went to the lobby and got some more drink and popcorn, which I don't normally do. I was so invested in this movie that I stopped at an arcade cabinet on the way back inside and played Silent Scope. Then I went back in to finish the movie and I didn't even bother to ask my friend what I had missed because I just didn't care. This movie should have been amazing instead of "Meh". Am I the only one that thinks there should have been a lot more people getting eaten? "Dinosaur Petting Zoo with Rocket Ice Cream" lmfao. My favorite gags in this episode are numerous but I think "We just replaced all their dialogue with shit" is a fair description of this movies writing. 🤣Only 37 dinosaur related deaths reported in a year? It was just a normal dinosaur that just wandered the entire time until the end, I actually felt bad for it at times. The REAL Joker of Dinosaurs is a tie between the Indominus Rex, or the Indoraptor from the previous two films. Those two were genetic monstrosities that were made purely for selfish, inhumane reasons, the I-Rex was made because they wanted a theme park attraction but it was hyper intelligent, and the I-Raptor was made as a prototype weapon of war. Hell, the I-Raptor actually SMILED, I'd say that thing was the Joker of dinosaurs in this trilogy. If they really want to squeeze out a fourth movie, they're dancing on landmines, because if it gets made, I think it'll bomb at the box office.

.............. Here's the thing. When you have Dinosaurs out in the world, like not even 1,000 of them, out in the world? You have a HUGE problem with the plot right there. Why? Let's break it down. In the original movie, it was in a park on an island. It's an enclosed space, so there's a feeling that you're trapped in a hellish pit right there. Second movie, same thing for the most part, then when it came to the city, you can understand the panic a little bit. Third movie.... Oh god, even it got that part right. In an abandoned park, you're in hell again. Fourth movie, the park actually works but then idiots ruin it. Still alone an island. Fifth movie, it still worked within enclosed spaces from an island about to explode to... some sort of creepy science mansion. But now movie six... Open world. Dino's everywhere. You know what humans have? It's this small but impressive thing called THE MILITARY!!!! Hell, they were used a bit in JP3-and I think JP2 in some form if memory serves. But this movie, the dino's wouldn't be around because they would have been bombed to shit! Yeah sure, JP2 reckons that bullets aren't that effective-but what about rocket launchers? Grenade Launchers? RPG's, mortars, torpedoes, missiles, grenades, land mines, bombs... I think explosions would be, in POKe'MON terminology, "Super Effective." Doesn't matter if the rest of the story is awful or amazing, that plot hole is bigger than the meteor that killed the dinosaurs in the first place.

I know some may find Maisie a bit annoying because of her rebel attitude during the first part of the movie but there was a reason why. Maisie has been raised in isolation by Owen and Claire after Fallen Kingdom and has not interacted with anyone else but them. Now as a teenager, she's grown increasingly frustrated staying in one place her whole life and wanted to experience the outside world, despite Owen and Claire telling her she can't cause lots of people would want to study her. Also, she's going through an identity crisis trying to figure out who she really is and both Owen and Claire have little evidence. This is until she and Beta were brought to Biosyn and Dr Henry Wu showed her video of her mom Charlotte Lockwood, proving to Maisie that she does have a mom and how she altered her DNA to eliminate the presence of a fatal genetic disease which, though unfortunately ending up killing Charlotte, was successfully removed from her daughter, saving Maisie's life before she was even born.
@william31003 ай бұрын
@@Parzival_Z98 why would she care more about being a teenager and experiencing the outside world when there are much bigger things she should be concerned about? You would think she would be more concerned about how much she basically fucked the world up by unleashing all of those dinosaurs. She would feel massive guilt from that. It also wasn't a problem that was built up with her in the last movie. I know she is older but building off of things is filmmaking in sequels 101. You can't just grab a problem out of nowhere. Also, her having an identity crisis doesn't add to this either since she wouldn't care because it doesn't matter. What her mom was doesn't make her what she is. Owen and Claire would've taught her that.

They start well with Jurassic World and Force Awakens then in the second films they switched directors and they take a nosedive then the third films the directors of the first films come back Colin Trevorrow and J.J. Abrams and aren't able to stick the landing.

@@samsaunders9487 At least Colin wrote all 3 JW films, unlike what JJ and Rian did with the Star Wars sequels

@@RSG_TheMonster True I didn't know Trevorrow still wrote Fallen Kingdom.

@@samsaunders9487 I would say Dominion did what the sequel trilogy SHOULD'VE done, in terms of actually bringing both generations of characters together at the end. I always thought one of TPM's biggest mistakes (especially knowing Harrison was done before filming even started) was not having a money shot of Luke, Han and Leia together one last time. Dominion was smart to put Grant, Malcolm and Sattler together more than one time in the film, it respected both the old and new eras of the series
@samsaunders94872 жыл бұрын
@@nah....6151 Do you mean the first prequel The Phanton Menace by TPM? Han, Luke, and Leia weren't in that unless you meant The Rise of Skywalker?

Honestly these films could bring in Danny DeVito dressed as the Cookie Monster and i still wouldn't care about these films

See what made the first film so good was it was groundbreaking CGI and you saw things you never thought you could see on the big screen like Dinosaurs and honestly i just don't feel that about any of these films they just lost the shine of what made the first film so groundbreaking when it came out

Also a great script based on a good book and a great director in his prime and very good actors. Kind of lightning in a bottle.

Watched the regular version, and was at the end of the movie, I sat there saying man they must have edited a lot, which would explain why Jeff G. Standing with a gun, just standing there to get it taken away from him. And the the cast posing multiple times 🤦♂️ The movie was “eh” Going to watch the extended version, but man I just wish they had Dino’s with less humans, I could watch blue and lil blue then family and adopted/“ abduction”child. be more interesting then this movie.

Little fact Jurassic World Dominion just received 3 nominations at the upcoming Razzies on March 11th in the following categories: • Worst Actress for Bryce Dallas Howard • Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel • Worst Screenplay

I felt like it was just a long string of a thousand call backs to the original. Never felt so pandered to. How do they keep screwing up so badly. I think you were too gracious in your review TBH 😂(love the video)

Exact same problem they had with episodes 7 - 9 of Star Wars.

I’d love to see a Jurassic park movie about the park where nothing goes wrong. It’s just zookeepers taking care of dinosaurs, I think that’d be a good movie

The only way this franchise can be saved at this point is if Thor and the Guardians arrive and say “Yo Starlord! Where the F*ck have you been?!?”

I didn't even know the villain was that one rando who hired Nedry in the first. Talk about obscure. He had one scene.

Why would scientists (who created dinos from teeny tiny droplet of blood in a mosquito) need to send henchmen to capture clone girl to get her DNA? Couldn't they just get her toothbrush, comb, strand of hair etc? I still don't understand how bare-skinned Dinos are roaming around in the cold of ❄️ 🥶
@bplatinumpaladin2 жыл бұрын
From your summary, it really seemed like a nothing movie. They introduced locusts, they got rid of them. Dinosaurs are still around. No new park. Nothing changed from the beginning to the end, other than Clone girl found out about her mom, and the Old Crew met the New Crew.
