I recently turned down a sponsorship with a well known hair care brand because we couldn’t come to terms on what they wanted to pay vs what I’m worth. They wanted to pay the rate for and asked for a “mention” in a routine video (where I couldn’t use competitive brands, which turned into basically an exclusive video) when all was said and done. We went back and forth as to why it would be an exclusive and what my rate is for an exclusive. In the end, I said no.They were devaluing me as a creator. I’d lose out on in other long term revenue by doing that “exclusive” video yet accepting their low rate. I definitely think it’s important to not devalue yourself no matter who the brand is. It’s a big reason why many brands are able to take advantage of midsize and smaller KZbinrs. They try to pay a low rate or give product in exchange for a mention or a dedicated video when they don’t consider the time it actually takes to film, research and edit our videos. This was a great video! Thanks for doing it!

I'm trying to figure out what I'm worth now I have 33k subs, I just did 2 million views in the last 28 days. I've only been around for 6 months. My channel is growing daily, and the product is almost a direct tie in to what I do? I feel I'm on the precipice of exploding or am presently exploding. Where would you go to look at realistic numbers so I can get an Idea what to ask for? Thank you. It sounds like you know what you are talking about and have experience. Thank you in advance #DISORDERLYPRODUCTNEWS p.s. I just subbed. Lol

THIS right here! I had a well known company reach out to me to work together & they told me everything they wanted. I asked them what their budget was and they told me they usually don’t pay influencers when they work with them for the first time! I was shocked how companies think they can just get free promo. If they hired a professional, it would cost them thousands!

this video was so helpful! i was recently reached out by a brand that i’ve been loving and using forever but i honestly have no experience in sponsorships and i had no idea if their price was fair, it’s hard to negotiate when you don’t know “what the going rate is” and when you don’t wanna devalue yourself :)

These videos are so helpful! I'm a small art KZbinr and would love to one day be at a level to persue brand deals, but I know my channel isn't established enough yet. So my question that I'd love to see a video on is when do you know your channel is at a level to begin working with brands? And do you wait for them to come to you or should you reach out? 😊😍

Thanks Stephanie! With all the dynamic changes on YT and the brand/affiliate market, this is often a hot-button topic for growing influencers like myself - it would be cool if there were a "input your data = answer sheet" excel or G-sheets doc for something like this; that would certainly help simplify the process. Just thinking out loud - but thanks for a great video!

How long will the video be in the dedicated upload be in this example?
@qualitativeresearcher3 жыл бұрын
I know it is such a basic question, but I really am still confused about the way things work. I've done so much reading and watching by now and I guess since my question is so basic, nobody seems to address it assuming that people are already clear about that :) The question is, when someone tells me they want me to record a dedicated video and will pay an X, fixed amount - is this how this normally works? Or does this change as the video gets views? Do youtubers just charge once, in other words, record the video and move on, or is there an arrangement where for each X number if views (1000? 10k?), the youtuber receives money. This sounds like a very messy and difficult to monitor process, so I'm assuming this is not how it works, but on the other hand, the fixed sum that I was offered, for example, does not make me want to bother with recording a video in the first place. I would be extremely grateful for a response

I want to know at how many followers you can start charging. I plan on growing my KZbin channel. My niche is in nails, I only have 70 subscribers at the moment so I know brands are not looking to pay me right at the moment. But I want to know around how many followers can or should I start charging. 1,000 or 10,0000? Right now I’m doing free videos for brands on IG but my IG only has 1,400 followers. I’m just confused on when my platforms are actually worth something.
