Hi! Welcome! Today I have a Pokémon-inspired treat! In this video, we bring to life the beloved Chansey Pokémon in the form of delicious donuts that are as adorable as they are irresistible. They're baked donuts so they're healthy and it's topped with a beautiful homemade strawberry glaze. Did I mention the strawberry glaze is made from just 2 ingredients?!
Learn how to transform ordinary donuts into delightful works of edible art that will capture the hearts of Pokémon fans young and old. The donut goes from ordinary to the iconic silhouette of Chansey with its signature egg and cheerful expression in just a matter of minutes.
So grab your Poké Balls and watch me bake and then decorate this delightful treat! Let's catch 'em all! One donut at a time!
yield: 12 3inch doughnuts
Doughnuts:
1. Preheat the oven to 425 F (218C)
2. In a bowl, combine oil, sugar and brown sugar. Mix until everything is well combined. If the brown sugar form lumps, crush them with a spoon and continue mixing.
3. Add egg and vanilla extract. Mix until it's incorporated
4. Add milk. Give it a quick mix
5. Add all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt). Mix until a smooth batter forms
6. Set the batter aside. Grab your doughnut pan and lightly brush it with oil
7. Pipe or spoon the batter into the pan. Only fill the pan about 60%!
8. Bake for 10 mins. If you're using a different sized pan, bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
9. Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes then transfer it to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Glaze:
1. Place strawberries in a blender. Blend until it is smooth.
2. This is optional but I recommend putting the strawberry puree through a sieve/strainer to remove the seeds. This will make the glaze much smoother.
3. Add powdered sugar and mix until a glaze forms. Add more or less powdered sugar depending on how you like your glaze.
Final touches:
1. Dip each doughnut in the glaze then let them dry
2. Melt the candy melt in the microwave at 20s intervals. Keep watch on the candy melts because they can burn easily. I used 20 melts total which was more than enough for my 6 doughnuts.
Unwrap the white chocolate balls, stick a toothpick in the chocolate balls then dip half of it into the candy melt to create Chansey's egg. Let the balls candy melt dry. This doesn't take very long. Please don't skip this step! Chansey needs an egg.
3. Place the remaining pink candy melt in a piping bag.
4. Melt the black candy melt and also place it in a piping bag
5. Use the black candy melt to draw Chansey's face. Then use the pink candy melt to draw arms and Chansey's whiskers/hair
6. Remove the chocolate ball from the toothpick and place it right in the center of the doughnut.
