Notes:
- First time I used blender for a 2D thing, it's quite flexible and I actually like it over Opentoonz, it didn't lag much when the file got big which is nice :)
- what do I usually put in these notes? its been so long
- this ain't the only version of the animatic, but the only finished one
- worked on this for 2.5 weeks this time, probably 80ish hours? anywho there was a lot of foundation already with the script written and most of it roughed out

wow, there are some GORGEOUS visuals in this. winged hermes, persephone's overflow, hades' hall of screens. this is incredible work, i'm happy i caught it so early

all of this animatic is so good but the bit that really stood out to me was the overlapping of Orpheus and the workers. I’ve never seen anyone address it: he’s indirectly trying to save them, hence them looking over his shoulders at what he’s working on, but he’s also at risk of becoming like them - literally never heard the quiet ‘keep your head low’ after Hermes tells him to look up until now! Very very interesting and such a joy to watch

How you use the smoke/clouds as something obstructing Orpheus’s view is so cool. Seeing the workers appear that way is great visual storytelling. Also that you so clearly see Persephone’s relationship with nature. She is not unaware of what’s going on, just choosing to ignore it during the summer.

I have never clicked so fast- EDIT: - I love how proud/excited Hades looks at 0:57, while Persephone just throws her cup in the fire in frustration. - The dark clouds at 3:28 are so creepy! - HOLY MOLY! Hermes with wings at 4:08 is BAD@$$! - Eurydice being really far away and small at 4:51 is so creepy, but so effective! - THE TRANSITIONS AT 5:25! - The shot at 5:32 is EPIC! - The shot at 6:17 is so spooky! - 6:24 is terrifying.

I'd do the same tbh) and Hades (he is proud of his work but disappointed about his wife's reaction, also he is fucking terrifying in the end, pathetic little capitalist simp) The movement in the Orphydice section is so dynamic that it's going to make me feral, ALSO YOUR FATES DESIGNS AAAA The dying candle mimicking Eurydice made me sad and I did this exact face: D: I'm going to tear this apart with my nails and DEVOUR IT

Also the way your Hades seems both lovestruck AND so invested into Hadestown it makes him deaf to what Persephone tries to tell him is brilliant! Also - the end!!! Him leaning down, looking at his wife on "...of you"? Is exactly how I imagine Hades-Persephone confrontation ends every time I listen to Chant!

I love ur representation of the fates, I imagine them in a similar way. also the "moving" shots in this are so incredible, they give this so much life. you tie all the chaos of the song together well. I loved your ability to slowly build the narrative of the song, until it all finally falls together at the end. I adore the intro angles and jazz. This is weirdly one of my fave songs from the musical and this is such a fun imagining of it. Also Persephone’s faces at “I don’t know you anymore” and just the “it ain’t right” refrain were so choice. AND THE FATES AS MASKS AND SWIRLY SHADOWY FORMS IN THE WIND CORRALLING EURYDICE!!!! Ever since you released this I haven't been able to stop watching/thinking about it (+ in addition, all of your other hadestown animatics) HAHA . I love your stuff sooooo much! Your work is so masterful and i love love love how you frame things and how expressive your art is! In this specifically, i love the bit with eurydice where she's drawn with less and less lines, like she's actually being blown away because of the wind. There's sooo many things I could talk about (the unnatural blue light combined with the slight chromatic aberration, persephone in general, hades' strong silhouette especially near the end) but all in all THIS IS CRAZY GOOD!!!!!! Thank you for your hard work!!!!

I really like how you frame him in each shot, the angles and like. For example, at 2:32 and the rest of that scene, it just fits so nicely in visuals and for Hades himself.
