When you're trying to pick up your wife from work but you accidently become a communist revolutionary instead.
@kyliep.48583 жыл бұрын
P sure hadestown would be based on, capitalism right? It’s not like the workers owned the means of production, there was very clearly a social hierarchy.
@kyliep.48583 жыл бұрын
They are radical, worker-driven, dare I say even socialist in their communality. “If no one takes too much, there will always be enough,” sings Orpheus, who is trying to write a melody that will fix the broken world when we meet him at the top of the show, as the ragged, beaten-down citizens of Hadestown and Persephone drink and dance through hardship. Orpheus eventually finishes his song, yes, but more importantly he organizes the workers of the underworld with it.

I also loved the "He said he'd shelter us. He said he'd harbor me." sections from the original. They felt like a more solid tie-in to what Eurydice was begging for in Chant 1. Overall I like the new musical better, but there's one or two little moments I wish had stayed
@finleyforevermore9 ай бұрын
In the Broadway previews, they DO do both! Hades verse comes BEFORE the worker's part, then after the workers finish Persephone gets a verse, then Eurydice more or less repeats Orpheus' verse. From that point onwards it's the same as the current version.
@nathan87503 жыл бұрын
I love how most of the first half of this reprise is Orpheus and Eurydice beginning to convince everyone to stand with them against Hades until about 2:34 where Hades just takes full control of the situation, especially with that line of "you can strum your lyre, I have strung the world in wire" with a climactic *I CONDUCT THE ELECTRIC CITY* . Chills every time I hear it

There is a power plant in the same city as the theater I saw this in so the town’s nickname is The Electric City. Needless to say, that line got a big cheer from the audience.

I love how Hades sings about how he has lain down power cords and power lines, trapping electricity underground and conducting it as a part of his city. Hades captured Zeus’ domain of lightning in his wires and trapped it underground. No wonder he seems to be top god in this setting, he stole the spot from his brother

Dude gal...pal. whatever. This is great! I love the use of perspective, movement, emotion, and consistent. That is NOT easy to do. I really appreciate the time and care you to put into this. I can tell you have an art back ground in this too. I re watched it again also enjoyed the story telling. One artist to another, I think tweaking proportions may help. Good rule of thumb is head length- head can be any size but unless it's perspective the body should equal five to six of them. Hands and feet are the length of a face. Shoulders and hips are two head lengths. You draw hands pretty well but if they were more proportions I think it would have added that extra strength and command to the characters. Please don't think badly of yourself or me! I still love it!!! I really do! I've spent years with life and figure drawing so that's more my expertise but it'll be a hot minute before I can do that perspective.
