this song was first sung by Annie Morgan a young girl in 1933 to John Jacob Nile’s in Murphy, nc he was traveling through Appalachian mountains gathering songs that were being sung by the local people her father was a minister

@@caladam Opinion respected, but "arrangement" implies liberties to be taken, including tempo, since a slower tempo w/ rubato is more fitting for the choral medium to help the unique harmonies be more effective, imho. :)

Fantastic ensemble. I agree a bit too slow. And now I'll really piss off the sycophants...I'm not crazy about the soloists voice or rather the way he chooses to use it on here.

Still think John Amos' version is tops, but that doesn't take away from this.
