I love the comments as much as the Chanticleer sound! They are all positive uplifting, appropriate, kind supportive!

I am in tears. In 1995, on a tour with the Old Dominion University concert choir, we were all gathered as a group in the stairwell of the National Cathedral in DC. On a whim, we struck up this piece which was in our repertoire. It was ethereal, perfect and a spiritual experience, and hearing this version, sung with this perfection, takes me back there. It was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life. Thank you Chanticleer for this........

That's not a tenor, that's a soprano.... I have never heard a tenor voice so beautiful. I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face. This is the first time I have ever heard them and I'm so sad I haven't until now. Just speechless.

I was in the choir that first sang Jim Erb's "Shenandoah" (from mimeographed pages!) in 1971. This is the most beautiful performance of it that I've heard, and I think Jim would have liked the additions to his original arrangement.

O M G!!!! CHIC, ELEGANT, TIMELESS, EXQUISITE, CHANTICLEER… I don’t know what it is about this song that touches me so much throughout my life… especially at low points. I remember hearing this on the rolling credits sang a cappella after watching a Civil War movie decades ago and it left me without words, which is a difficult thing to do. Again today I had it on my mind to try to find who this group was that sang the a cappella version on that soundtrack which I did not find. However, while listening to versions of Shenandoah ,which were sung cappella, there were many that were great until I heard CHANTICLEER. I was so unbelievably touched by their beautiful understated presentation which many times is most powerful…and then they begin…THOSE VOICES…I had tears in my eyes listening while they showcase the unbelievable range presented so effortlessly. I’m so grateful for your talent and the uncomplicated way you present it allowing the thoughtful arrangement to be enjoyed without distraction. BRING IT ON!!

THIS IS THE BEST VERSION THAT CHANTICLEER HAS OF THIS SONG!!!!!! SOOOO PURE AND CLEAN!!!!!! IF THEY HAD ERIC IT WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST PERFECTION!!!!!!

Too much reverb for me. The original's sound was more focused, and the soprano solo was totally unexpected. This arrangement is longer with 3 soprano solos. Both versions are brilliant, new singers, new recording technology, different venue...

Chanticleer is a name used to refer to a rooster (that they don't know the name of or that doesn't have a name)...in the same way that people say Reynard for a fox, Pepi LePeu for a skunk, or Fido for a dog

This arrangement is actually comprised of two arrangements. The section from 1:57 onwards is from The LG Choral Series arr. James Erb. Not sure where the first part is from though.
