What was vada supposed to do if gramoo got up? I think that's too much responsibility for an 11 year old

Watching over a grandmother, or grandparent, is such a simple task. Even I felt Harry’s frustration, over her walking out on her own responsibility, to do such a thing. It was very wrong of her, to do that, and in a funeral parlor, too.

Wow her dad is such a JERK! Telling that it's her responsibility? She's a kid! Making her watch her grandma while he's smooching with Shely... awful parenting

He was right to call her out, since she was not supposed to walk out on her own responsibility, to look after her, in the first place.

Harry and Shelly were in love with each other and not paying any attention to the funeral or the eccentric grandma. They left everything in Vada’s hands.

@@filmsforallnations Well, not exactly. And especially not at her age. Harry and Shelly were basically waiting in the wings, for the next funeral to begin, and they didn't quite expect Vada to walk out of the den, secretly spy on them, unexpectedly, and leave her grandmother roaming around the parlor.

Vada's dad shouldn't have gotten angry at her. For one thing, he put way too much responsibility on Vada's shoulders by having her watch her grandmother by herself. For Pete's sake, she was only 11 years old! Another adult should have been in the room to help Vada with her grandmother! For another thing, it's not like Vada was shirking her responsibility on purpose! She had to go to the bathroom!

This was of course, a little different, since this was in a funeral parlor, and people were in mourning of who they just lost, and they were not in for an old woman acting as if she was singing in a cabaret. Even I felt for those people in mourning, and Dan Ackroyd’s character, too.

@@chrisfinch8637 that's true. I felt for the people in mourning and Dan Aykroyd's character, too. The grandmother, however, had Alzheimer's. That's why she sang in front of those people at the funeral. My great-grandfather had Alzheimer's, too. It affected his behavior, too. My grandmother took care of him. People with that condition need to have an adult caregiver. An 11-year-old isn't able to take care of someone with that condition without the help of an adult. Vada's grandmother should have had an adult caregiver with her, too.

@@Lauren-k2h It's pretty unfortunate that they never did have an adult caretaker, at the time, so apparently there was no other alternative, but to have her watch her own grandmother, instead of leaving her behind and roam around, and think she was in another universe and such.

I sure felt his true frustration, on how his own daughter, walked out on her own responsibility, to look after his own mom/her own grandmother. It was a very irresponsible move from Vada, to leave her behind, and roaming around in that parlor, and later act like it’s a cabaret, in front of those people in mourning.

@@chrisfinch8637 A responsibility that an 11-year-old is not mature enough for. Not ready for. Besides she first left to use the washroom. Got distracted when she saw her dad kissing Shelly.

@@JamesParker1998Yes, and then it led to her grandmother roaming around the funeral parlor, and singing in front of those people in mourning. It really was embarrassing for Dan Ackroyd’s character, so there’s a true reason on why he called Vada out on that behalf, and I don’t blame him.

You should’ve at least locked the door on your way out to the bathroom, Vada. 🤦🏻‍♂️ You don’t leave your own Gramoo behind, and have her roaming around, and singing in that funeral parlor, like it’s a cabaret.
