And if you look at the stats, your margin of victory is the smallest by far of the top teams. It's clearly Iowa State and BYU at this point. Defense win championships and Iowa State has held it's opponents to 66 points, BYU has held theirs to 94 points. Texas Tech has held theirs to 194 which is the worst of the 16 teams in the conference. Tech is going to fall fast and hard very soon. I could see them losing 5 of the next 6 quite easily with the second half of their schedule being much tougher than the first.

BYU’s defense typically gets off the field through turnovers or turnover on downs. They struggle to take care of business and force three and outs or short drives in general. It’s nerve racking to have to rely on elite red zone defense. In turn this gives BYU’s offense less opportunities. Retzlaff played solid, ball was never in jeopardy. My point is BYU has a really good defense… not great but really good. And the offense is better than the average label it gets credit for.

​​​@@malaw514I agree, I don't think anyone wants the other team to drive. However, it was obvious that BYU gave Arizona the 5-8 yards in the middle of the zone. They were going to allow little in the run game and no big plays over the top. This left that soft coverage in the middle. Arizona took advantage of that on their long drives and slowly moved the ball down the field. The problem is, as the field compresses in the red zone, that soft 5-8 yards goes away. This is why K-state ended up kicking 5 field goals with no touchdowns. BYU allowed that touchdown at the beginning of the game with Arizona, I think that was more to do with cobwebs from the bye. However the next touchdown didn't happen until the outcome was already known. Edit: sorry 3 field goals for K-state, 5 field goals for SMU

You were right as to who would win. Utah had their chances but with an injured quarterback that lasted 3 plays before being hurt and out for the season it was not going to happen. Now that we are not wondering about Cam Rising playing or not things are about to change. Utah is going to be better. How much better remains to be seen. Why Cam played the second half is beyond most Utah fans. He could not throw consistently, could not run, and the receiving core was getting frustrated. Give Arizona State their due and they have a great running back and a good quarterback. It is time for a new Utah to emerge and I believe that is going to happen. I’ve seen Avery Johnson pass and Retzlaff, Retzlaff is a better passer by a lot and has thrown some incredible deep and intermediate passes and has had long drives. BYU Just doesn’t use them it int he 2nd half of a lot of these Games when they are icing them. Avery Johnson’s two passes against Colorado looked like floaters that the Buff’s CB’s played badly. He’s a better runner for sure, but Retzlaff is a much better passer. His WRs had multiple drops again.

I was pissed when Utah played will-he/won’t-he with Rising last year and I wished we would move on from him back then. People can say he’s talented and the best QB Utah has had or whatever-but he’s always getting hurt! Whatever skill he has is irrelevant because it’s all hypothetical. He will never stay healthy. Wilson is young but I’m ready for him to take over and get experience. I hated all the off season hype because there was no reason to believe Rising would be able to come back, stay healthy, and perform. As a Utah fan/alum it’s getting really frustrating when it feels like the program is lying to fans and stringing us all along. Props to BYU. They play like they actually care. They’ve got fire this year. I fully expect them to beat us unless something crazy happens and they’ll deserve that win 100%.

If you look at the Top 8 in the standings the Non Conference schedules don't really jump off the page ISU and BYU have decent non conference wins but nothing that will convince the CFP to give the Big XII two bids.

They got help to beat Cincy on that game winning drive and wvu was worst officiating I’ve ever seen. Pitt is definitely improved but probably finish 9-3
