Who cares what it cost? This is your bike. From top to bottom, it is exactly the way you wanted it to be. It is beautiful. As someone who transitioned from custom road biking to motorcycles, I found this series fantastic. I can't wait to see this beautiful beast in more of your videos.

Tip for drilling holes to a certain depth: if you don’t have a drill with a depth gauge, just wrap a piece of sticky tape around the bit, and stop drilling when you reach it.

The fact that you worked on it from the state it was in until now makes it that much more special than just buying it already finished. By now Im sure you know that bike inside and out which will make it that much easier for you to troubleshoot should you run into any problems later on down the road. Keep the videos coming. Ex-race bikes on the road are bonkers! I rode an 09 CBR1000RR of a friend that was converted back from track to road (in trim only), that thing had a CRAZY powerband, 2nd gear half throttle over 6000rpm and it would just start to power wheelie. Compared to a stock CBR1000RR, it was a night and day difference, and it's not like any stock modern liter superbike is sluggish by any means.

The R1 looks awesome, your videos rebuilding your R1 has inspired me to buy one also. I bought a 2015 Yamaha R1 in the blue and silver livery, it was also converted for track use but most of the OEM parts where available. It also has upgraded Ohlins suspension in the front and back so that was a big plus Only thing i have to do is register it. but for now it looks awesome next to my MT09SP 2023 Anyway, awesome bike you got there and i love the new fairings

The Carbon Fiber and Blue looks so sick. That's a fantastic looking bike now !!! I'm going through issues with mine, my wife complained that she couldn't go on the bike with me so I bought a rear seat kit, new mudguard and all new bolts and fittings and $2500 later I find out my frame doesn't have two damn tabs to mount it all from the factory because it was meant for a single rider. FFS -_- So now I have to figure out how to attach them to the frame and find a wrecked bike that has them. Bikes are pain XD

Cool series, enjoyed following you along very much. Its a tough call to make if its worth it, if you compare the price difference after the extra costs added the cost is comparable, as you mentioned. For me, fairings make a big difference in looks and even if you didn't paint the wheels and tank but got the fairings it would come out about the same. Personally i would factor my time and effort as well, if you spend three months on this i honestly doubt it would be a sensible choice. Yet, is it that important? This might sound stupid but in the end, this is "just money" and will come back. If you enjoyed the experience it was worth it, spend that money, enjoy life. I'm not saying that you should just throw money out the window but so many folks are stuck up saving money all the time, for what? Of course you should be financially responsible and have a few savings if possible. Yet, if you always put everything aside for the day you retire for example, what if you fall sick and can't do crap with it. What good are savings if you get run over by a bus tommorow lol We should all worry less and live life. Ride motorbikes. Coming back to the R1, i was skeptical about the silver tank and wheels at first but it looks really good. Not a huge fan of the fake carbon fiber but light blue looks ace. What a difference compared to how you got it, amazing transformation. And as you said, you know it inside out which is always a great thing.

something i noticed rewatching the video, you miss 1 part of the ECU, it's a small plastic cover that covers op the wires and the connector of the ECU. it's a small detail that can easily be overlooked. The one on my R1 was cut in half by the previous owner for some reason. I ordered a new one that from Yamaha. It wasn't that expensive.

This is very subjective and all comes down to what shape the track bike is when purchased to begin with & how mechanically inclined you are. As a whole, it's a gamble that's **typically** not worth taking just to save a few grand.

Cracking job my friend, I would have definitely done it the same way, 8m not just saying that to kiss arse, but those racing parts that were already on it are worn in, where as if you had bought the parts to put on the $12k bike, you would have had to learn the set up, where as most of that work had already been done. If you add the cost of those parts and add to the $12k bike, you would have to add the time and energy spent to fit and dial it in. Therefore by the time you're finished you would have a bike where you would never be able to make your money back if you ever sell it. Keep up the great work and I look forward to what you have coming next. 🇬🇧

Would love to know the stats on a race bike engine longevity vs street use.. In some ways engines do actually like to be used, properly worn in, properly heated up each time, properly lubricated, more oil changes.. but yeah then it’s thrashed. Time will tell I guess.

When it comes to those metal parts / belly pan, you are not missing the brackets. They bolt on the cat, but yours is missing. You can not run them with a straight pipe, but there are others that make custom pans for the straight pipe set ups The only thing to consider is, if you are shopping for them, make sure that it's for the stock fairing and not the race ones. They are cut differently
