The upper fuel injectors are probably what's causing the engine cutting out. There is a bike garage channel on YT (in German) where the guy often has to deal with R1s, and this seems to be the most common problem. The upper injectors open at about 9k RPM. He has a special pump to clean them in place, but you'll probably have to strip them and clean them.
@dennisgibb79589 ай бұрын
Plausible issue if the uppers are clogged. Most likely issue is ELECTRICAL. Either in the harness to the ecu or some other add on. Since it was a track bike there has been some wiring creativity.
@r1_fanaticbikelife2139 ай бұрын
If the previous owner was using race gas and not cleaning the injectors after use than I would definitely check but if it was only pump fuel no so much the case. Doesn’t hurt to check since I personally don’t like to just eliminate someone’s theory on the matter.

Doesnt make sense to me. It would just make less power since the bottom ones are still firing. This bike actually entirely cuts out..

I love this series. I have a KTM rc390 which too is an ex track bike. I had a similar issue with the it cutting out but more at idle rev range. Recently it got so bad that I experienced power loss like in the video. Turns out my tank was completely rusted inside as well as my fuel pump. This rust was blocking the filter causing a lack of fuel to the engine and delay with the throttle. I recommend that you take out the petrol in the bike now and syphon is through a fuel filter to catch any particles. This will might save you sometime before you have to remove the tank. If it is the case that your tank is rusted, you can get the inside coated with a special paint instead of needing to replace the tank. Sending live love from CPT

Just so you know I got 12,000 miles out of my S22's in the rear and 13,500 miles out of my front tire which was also a Battlax S22. Needless to say Ive ridden in the rain with those tires literally dozens of times and never had an issue. I think they are an excellent tire type for rain to be honest with you. After the S22's I went with a much cheaper Kenda and a Shinko Advance in the rear and let me just say you get what you pay for. Great tire on a budget if you need one quick but you definitely dont get the same performance from the latter of the two pair.

I love watching these vidoes. I had an R3 last summer. Bought it smokingly dirt cheap. It was basically brand new. It inky had 2999 miles on it the day i put it in the bed of my truck. It still had stock oem tires with hairs on them! All for $3000 usd (i forget sometimes your at the bottom of the world!) I watched your last vid the road trip one with you and your GF. You need to totally come to Colorado and ride dude! None of that ridding on the wrong side of the road stuff here! No cops stoping ya and checking your papers lol. The Mountain roads here in colorado are killer, twisty and windy. Just mind the sand/ rocks in the corners from winter months. I sold the R3 in the fall last year and bought a brand new ‘24 honda crf450rl, basically street legal motor cross bike! Im gunna super moto it. And be able to switch back and forth of it want to do any off-road trips and dirt road riding. I miss the R3. It was a lot of fun. Quick, lightweight, and nimble. A great beginner bike. Id recommend one for anyone wanting to learn and get better! An r6 is just to much to learn on and an r1 is not for the faint of heart. I got my eye on a new Honda cbr500rr at the Honda dealer down the road here in grand junction colorado. Plan a USA colorado ride trip dude! It would be epic! You’d see and ride places and do things you couldn’t even imagine there in south Africa (?) Id take ya up Pikes Peak. The infamous Pikes Peak hillclimb road? Of oh ya, all the way up to 14,500 feet(ish) Theres more off road dirt roads and trails to ride than you could do in lifetime. Id take you on Schofield pass from crested butte colorado to marble colorado. Eat at the bbq joint and then ride back up and around thru ‘lead king basin’, all in an after noon. Go for a ride on CO highway 92 thru the ‘black canyon of the Gunnison from delta colorado thru Crawford and Hotchkiss Colorado across the blue mesa dam to Gunnison Colorado. Id be afraid you would be able to keep your eyes on the corners or the road! You’d be looking at the Mountains and the scenery and not paying attention to ridding! Look up some of these places! The rides are breathtaking. Colorado has it all. Desert rocky sand, forsest logging roads, sand dunes, high mountain passes and woods ridding, wide open desert ridding, twisty windy paved mtn 2 lanes, wide open 2 and 4 lane interstates that wind and snake their way over the Continental divide above 14,000 feet in elevation. Theres tracks, theres a track in Denver, CO Springs, and theres PPIR which is Pikes Peaks International Raceway which is well known. Not much into track ridding. More off-road ‘dual sport’. It makes sense to have a bike I can ride on and off the street, use to buzz around town and still get on the highways if i need to and go into town, thats why i sold the R3 for a plated street legal ‘dirt bike’. It checks multiple boxes and not stuck in just one category. Doing a supermoto makeover on it opens the door for more ‘street ridding’. Yet easily converted back by just swapping wheels and tires back and forth. Not to much trouble i say now lol. Well see what i feel after doing it a few times. The only downfall to COlorado riding is the short seasons. 3 month summers at most up at substantial elevations, which is anything 7,000 feet above sea level and up. Anything 9,000-10,000+ in elevation it can still snow 12 months outta the year! So being prepared anywhere you go is a must in Colorado!
