19:55 Noticed that critical capture. It happens a lot when you have a big chunk of the dex caught, I played a randomized Black 2 with all the Pokémon available to be caught in different routes and the last third of the dex gave me lots of critical captures.

13:00 You can actually catch all three regi's in game. You still need the the second game to transfer the key for it.

iirc in poc you must do everything in one save file or game, that's why trade evos aren't needed

I didn’t realize trade evos like alakazam and steelix were obtainable. I noticed that there were a few he didn’t get like accelgor, escavalier, and conkeldur. Is that just because it’s not possible without trading? He kinda had my hopes up making me think I actually could complete the dex by myself after having white 2 for almost 10 years and thinking I couldnt

I’m gonna try this myself and sun and moon but I’m gonna change some of the rules up like I don’t have to leave all the Pokémon up straight to the level I just have to live with the Pokémon up if they can evolve before the level And any stone Pokémon that I can actually find the stones on the root since I have the sun the moon handbook help me on that

Quick ball is only outclassed by the master ball. If you use the quick ball in the first turn the capture rate is multiplied by 4. This makes 70% obtainable with a single ball. In your next POC keep that in mind dude, you will save some time.

A part of me agrees with you that "Professor Oak's Challenge" shouldn't really be done until the dex is finished, it feels like the actual interesting part of this challenge is contained entirely pre-elite four, with everything else just being a "finish the pokedex" run

This could have been so much faster if you prioritized getting game progress over dex progress. Capturing everything you can along the way, but not evolving it all asap. Then at the end you use higher level Pokemon to get the exp even for low levels and it goes by super fast.
