Chapter 1: S85 Equal Length Custom Headers - Was It Worth It?!

Today, we dedicate this video to mocking up our custom equal length S85 V10 primaries. For those of you asking why I don't just buy Infinity or Evolve Headers, I wish I could! Because of the location of the steering rack "behind" the axle, it creates a direct interference with the stock (or aftermarket) headers, so I must go custom.
And here's how I did it!
I bought the following parts to make this happen:
Fitment Kit: 1-5/8" OD Pro ICE Engine Works 2" CLR, 3" CLR, 4" CLR 248pc modeling kit.

Tubes: 180 degree 16 gauge (1/16") 2" CLR, 3" CLR, 4" CLR Tubings w/ 6" Legs.

Collector: 1-5/8", 5 into 1 SS Merge collector 13 degree with double slip joints to 2.5" output.

For sunday use, very beautiful(when exhaust wont go over 150°). But for rough drive (thats what s85 was made for)... poor steering rack 🥺 and all the seals with teflon rings, even servo valve. Ahh even that scavenge pump 🥲 they wouldnt be happy, surounded by that excessive heat.

I used the 1 3/4" set to build a set of headers for my v8. they're alright. they stick together when you want to take it apart, and they come apart when you want them to stay on the engine. without the $1000 tool they sell to cut the sections with complete accuracy, it takes practice to be able to cut them with precision. I had to spend like $1200 just to have enough blocks to design a full 4 runner set of long tubes. I am not a professional fabricator though, and am just a diy mechanic. you could literally just build a set of headers with 45/90 degree bends and pie cuts. 5/10 rating from me. just my experience and 2 cents

🔥🙌🏽 really nice!! What if you add vband on that one runner for even more “ease” of installation? Instead of pulling that one runner out, your can just take the clamp out. 🍻
