This is the VOD for my reading/reaction to chapter 1113 of One Piece. I cannot show the manga panels on screen due to copyright, and I read from Shonen Jump's official app.

The moment I saw her child form out of warm eddies, I started to notice all her behaviors and gestures are not "adult" and called it that Oda would troll us with her age. But I always got dismissed every time I brought that up even when the hints that she's just a child were continued to pile up every chapter... ^^;;;

To be fair, most adults in One Piece can be pretty dumb, weird and childish, so her having those traits wouldn't automatically disqualify her from being an adult. And in fact, she has even shown herself to be more mature than a lot of the older characters. For example, back in Saobody, she was the one who had to stop Zoro from starting a random fight with a celestial dragon for no reason.

@@RSFArocks it's fair enough to not have that assumption in Sabaody or even before Egghead. But when there's already a question mark in her age, I think she came out from warm eddie as a child should raise a little warning. 😅

Good points about U.S. culture difference and how we lean toward those edgier shows as our flagship anime. I suppose right now the crown is worn by Jujutsu Kaisen? I've always contend one of the primary reasons the U.S. has lagged so far behind in One Piece fan percentage is the titanic amount of damage that was done by the 4kids dub existing which off the bat put a lot of people (especially the hardcore anime fans) off the property entirely. Then once Funimation got it they had to pick up where it left off and also start from the beginning, slowing the pace enormously. English Dubbing of One Piece had been so far behind every other language for so long (literally over a decade) and this stymied that fanbase growth, especially during a time where it was already weird for someone to watch anime. Only the most die-hard folks would seek subs, fan-subs or heaven forbid pick up the Manga. So the U.S. Audience being not just behind the Manga, not just behind the Anime/Sub watchers but also behind every other language dub helped keep them out of the world-wide conversation and up-to-date discussion of the story. Love them or hate them there is no denying how important being dubbed and aired on television was for shows like Cowboy Bebop, DragonBall Z, Naruto, Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist (the first run and Brotherhood) when growing their audience. One Piece's spotty history with that pipeline made for less than fertile ground. Way too many words to say, would love to see that potential future video where you go into the factors of why One Piece took so long to take root in the U.S. and still isn't as huge as it is in so many other countries.
