⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute, we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But then we were back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire!! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three-month Japanese Adventure and then got back to Martha for some new European Adventures. After an incredible three-month Scottish road trip, we have now packed up our van and are heading to Australia for a new van life adventure!

I’m an Aussie as well and been travelling full time for over 3 years and haven’t seen a koala yet in the wild. Plenty of other wildlife though. Please don’t drive dusk or dawn because kangaroos are really stupid, they make it a sport to collide into cars. You’re going to have a blast here. Everyday I wake up in new surroundings and am also so grateful ❤❤❤❤❤

Oh guys, I cried with joy that you are moved by the precious nature in my country. Don't miss the Dandanongs and the William Rickets Sanctuary whilst you are in that neck of the woods. You can buy a snake bite first aid kit for your travels but just be vigilant when walking in the bush. Seeing that many Koalas is a big deal for us also, you found a great spot. ❤ What Bird is That is a good book for identifying bird life. Happy travels lovelies. 😊❤

😂😂😂 so loving your glee! For your parrot ID: Red ones are King Parrots, pink and grey ones are Galahs, big white ones with yellow head feathers are sulphur crested cockatoos and the smaller white ones with weird eyes making an absolute racket are Corellas. The black ones are black cockatoos (they're my favourites) the multi-coloured ones are Rosellas. When it comes to snakes big brown and grey ones with small heads will kill you but patchy coloured ones with big heads are pythons and not venomous, but can still be grumpy. My suggestion would be to get some gaters for covering your ankles for bush walks but definitely covered shoes/ankles at all times but honestly they're more scared of you than you are of them! Have fun out there you two gorgeous humans! Signing off with the "Aussie salute" (if you've learned what that is yet! 😂)

The bird is a Crimson Rosella The best book I use is The compact Australian Bird guide. Get some snake bite bandage with indicator to show the tightness. The key to being bitten is to not move AT all, as the snakes bite into muscle and not the blood.. therefore the venom moves through the lymphatic system. There is now only one anti venom at hospitals for all snake bites so if you don't see the snake or have a photo that is ok now. Wrap as per instructions of bandage and LESS movement the better! The otways are so dense with koalas, its one of fav spots ❤❤❤❤

I know Philly was keen keen to tick off a Kookaburra from his list. (The Aussie kingfisher equivalent) but after checking Google hasn't he been married to one for a number of years? I quote! "Known as the “bushman's alarm clock” because it has a very loud call, a laughing kookaburra vocalizes in its family group at dawn and dusk. The call sounds like a variety of trills, chortles, belly laughs, and hoots. It starts and ends with a low chuckle and has a shrieking "laugh" in the middle." Sorry Keeley but this made me chuckle 😎🙄🤣 (obviously just a bit of Aussie rules banter)

Hi. What a great video. It was super special that you saw the koalas. Also that they were awake as normally they sleep for 23 out of 24 hours. I have lived here in Australia for 35 years and only seen them once in the wild in that time. On another note. If you get a snake bite, don’t suck it. Bind it with whatever you have. Firm but not too tight that you cut off circulation. The important thing though is not to move. Let emergency come to you. Movement makes the venom move faster around your body.

Keely you are SO cute getting emotional about being in our Bush with Kangas etc!😪 You both worked so hard on the Van & should enjoy our beautiful country! I hope you get to see our Koalas 😄 Make sure if you drive at & dawn or dusk, our animals come out to eat & wombats are slow crossing roads!🥴 What sim card provider are you using as you mentioned you don't have internet but you uploaded Vlog? SO glad you chose the Great Ocean Road because it is beautiful & so much to experience!! Coffee .... small things can bring JOY!! 🤗 Koala population was decimated in 2019 horrific Bushfires but special people have worked tirelessly to look after them! I lived in Apollo Bay & Wye River a wonderful childhood!! Do you have a First Aid Kit, walking at night on rough terrain could be problematic...snakes etc sorry not trying to freak you out! 💜💙 #Australia #VanLife

Careful guys in the rainforest, particularly in Northern Australia, in case you venture across an animal called a Cassowary. Probably the closest thing to a Raptor from Jurassic Park, an endangered flightless majestic bird like an Emu but dangerous if threatened. Saw one once when in the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland & also the impossible to miss signs telling you to beware of the crocodiles and the stingers (jellyfish to us in Ireland!). Also try not catch Chlamydia from the Koalas the species is riddled with it!

You guys make me smile so much! I just LOVE your appreciation of our wildlife!! 😀 We have the most beautiful parrots & I am still blown away every time I see bright colour flashing about in the trees (even in my own backyard!). As for information to identify birds & wildlife, the best option while travelling is to pick up brochures along the way at information centres (or even pick up an identification book there too). There are loads of great books about but as you're going from state to state, you won't want big heavy books to drag around. Happy travels!! Can't wait to see more! 😀 ~ Karen

One little animal to keep your eyes peeled for is a Wombat. Watch for them on the roads and if you should happen to hit one or see one that's been hit, check it's pouch for a baby. If you should find a baby in a pouch or sitting near it's deceased mother, get in touch with a Wombat rehabber immediately. Also get in touch with a rehabber if you see one with mange....it is a matter of life or death for these little beauties.

G'day Guys ! Looking forward to watching your new adventure. 💚🦘Only discovered your channel recently & I'm hooked lol. I'm an Aussie forager & this info might come in handy. 🌱 Google Narrow & Broad Leaf Plantain. 🌱 It grows everywhere & is instant relief for bites / stings / cuts etc ... You crush a few leaves in your hand and apply directly on the skin. The juice in the leaves is anti inflammatory 👍 It's also edible. 💚🌻 Another handy hint ... It can get pretty hot & sticky here in the summer so, you can make 'Bush soap' by crushing Wattle leaves mixed with a bit of water in your hands 😉

Awesome an Aussie forager!! We loved doing foraging in Scotland. If you can recommend anyone (or yourself) that does like bush foraging classes or something we would love to do one and do a wee adventure, but have no idea where to look up something like that lmao. I doubt there will be much to forage in the outback lmao, but we do hope to do NT and SA and Tassie so maybe more forageable things there than the barren middle lol

Six months ago I watched a video where a lady had her entire kitchen stolen . She lives in a car . All I’m saying is consider how long it takes to throw all that stuff back in the van . Just like you she went on a walk came back and everything was gone . So putting it inside versus having to go buy it again time wise . Every bit of scenery is beautiful , including the animals . Never heard about those worms . You two teach me a lot . It’s been awhile since any stray dogs or cats . I think that’s a good thing because I want all the dogs and cats to have a home with a fireplace to curl up in front of . See you next week .

I am lucky living in the country l see Kangaroos, but not so many Koalas, theg usually sleep during the day, l am so happy you got to experience this, noway would l have gone on the night walk haha, you are brave, l am Australian, and lm petrified of snakes haha. Haha, I'm late to the party but I'm Australian and love camping. My next big trip is coming up, the beaches around tropical Cairns just as spring is starting... perfect. Don't bother the snakes and they won't bother you. Snakes don't have ears but they are sensitive to vibrations so don't be quiet in the bush. Bash around the joint and the snakes will make sure t;hey are not where you are at. Spiders are a problem, as are scorpions in some areas. Don't lean on trees, fence posts, stumps or funny mounds of dirt. They are all someone's home, and that someone probably has a sting or even venom to remind you of this fact. Don't leave your shoes outside even if they stink like like the nine shades of hades, otherwise someone will make them a home. Kangaroos are 99.9% harmless. The other 0.1% are real bastards. The legend of the boxing kangaroo is actually based in fact. If one tries to square up back away smartly. No they don't box with those tiny little front paws, but they may try to endearingly hold you with them while they eviscerate you with the big back ones. It's only the bigger greys and the reds you have to worry about, and only if they feel threatened. The birds are harmless, mostly. In suburbia magpies can be very territorial during nesting season and will swoop on anyone coming near their nest. Yeah, they go for the eyes. Larger birds like emus and cassowary should not be approached in the wild. Cassowarys in particular can be aggressive and their kicks with sharp talons can do serious damage. They weigh up to 44 kg and can jump seven feet in the air, freeboard, if that gives you some idea. Flightless birds tend to develop other means of warding off potential predators in Australia... Things are lot tamer down south, except for the spiders and snakes. They are real bastards. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just don't do stupid shit and you'll be fine. Most things are far more scared of you than you are of them. You can't see much of Australia in just a month or two. I'm hoping that you park that van up and come back to it next spring (like in a couple of months). I'm still watching these so I guess I'll find out. There's a decade of adventures to be had in that vehicle.
