I don’t know what it is exactly, but it makes me so nervous when I hear about astartes being turned to chaos, especially in such large numbers... if almost thirty chapters could be turned on a mission to prove their faith to the emperor then who knows what could be done to any normal citizen of the imperium. Really puts into perspective why the inquisition and grey knights take sightings of chaos by normal citizens so seriously.

Someone might have already said this but I didn't see it, The Doom legion sent 6 companies including their first company because they were tasked with operating a massive star for called the Faithful's Deliverance. The area of space they stood watch over was considered so dangerous an exception was made for them and the chapter master and 4 companies remained to man the station. They later told their traitor first captain to piss off as they were loyal.

Great video. Because the disasterous aftermath of the abyssal crusade, the Imperium probably needed to establish more new space marine chapters. It is a good time and opportunity to write lore for peoples custom chapters. I used it in a small bit of lore I wrote for my custom Space Marine chapter "The Aurora Guard".

I would love to hear an alternative story of a chapter that got accused, and the CM/elements of the chapter just going "F*ck you old man" or "Nah", getting casted out or attacked by other chapters. There was a short novella that describes remaining loyalist Doom Legion's encounter with their fell brethren. Chaos Space Marines persuaded their brothers to join them, but they refused and exiled them. Which at first seemed odd that they did not break into fight. But when chaos fleet embarked on a new coordinate, Doom Legion fired and obliterated the vessel. OC, that ship must have been a messenger not the full might of warband.

It should be stated that not every company from every chapter was present during the crusade. The Doom Legion sent 6 companies into the Eye and those companies fell to chaos, but the remaining 4 companies remained loyal and rebuilt the chapter.
