So as a Fenryka player, I’ve been thinking about this a lot since the BA release. I THINK we could be seeing something similar to this: - Logan Grimnar - Njall Stormcaller - Generic Jarl - Generic Battle Leader or Priest of either kind - Grey Hunters/Blood Claws (possibly in the same box) - Wolf Guard Termis (possibly just as an upgrade sprue)

people were excited for blood angels because Dark Angels had a good refresh, and now people aren't excited for Space Wolves because Blood Angels had a "bad" refresh. people should learn that judging another refresh ahead of time based on another is just dumb. one faction's refresh doesn't indicate how good your refresh will be. there's no correlation.

@@Hikurangi911 I'm with you on this one. They took away the huge, majestic wings of the Sanguinary Guard. They took away what made the Dark Angels special, It's gonna be the same with the Space Wolves. This is all being done because there's no actual "sculpting" being done anymore. It's done in a computer where they just move around limbs and switch out parts and such, and if you wanna add personality to them like they once had, you'll have to either do it yourself or buy up their upgrade sprues to do it. All to save money.

Hopefully this space wolves refresh will tone down some of the infamous silliness of the chapter. The wolves are so cool in the heresy because they aren’t overdone like they have been in 40k

My best guess would be grey hunters, blood claws and long famgs will be interssssors plus ugrade sprew. The sprew will have some bits for dreadnoughts. Wolf guard terminators will be refreshed. Bjorn will get a refreshed model. Logan grimnar, arjak and njal will be refreshed. Wolf priest might get redon. Iron priest, all remaining named characters venerable dreadnaught wulfen dreadnuaght and murderfang will go to legends and maybe the two flyers. Thunderwolves and wulfan will not be changed.

Yeah currently the Bjorn kit makes both Bjorn and Murderfang, so if Bjorn is 'refreshed and upgraded' to be a Primaris Sized boxnaut (which would cause people to buy that kit and convert it A LOT since the old Boxnaut is still a fan favorite) then Murderfang is gone. The reason I mentioned 'Primaris sized Boxnaut' is because the lore for the new Dreads is that they burn through pilots incredibly quick, unlike the old ones which perserved the marine inside, thus I can't imagine Bjorn being upgraded to that and somehow still being lore accurate, unless they ALSO update the lore for the new Primaris Dreads and that the problem has now been 'fixed'.

@@luketfer given that blood angels lost their three unique box dreadnoughts, I forsee the same happening for Space Wolves. Maybe a fancy sprue to wolfify the new primaris and likely a new Bjorn with a "relic" or "special" version to prevent burnout. But sadly I don't expect much from these updates. I would likely expect new Thunderwolves, new Wulfen, new character refreshes, and new Bjorn dread. But the rest just being primaris copy/pastes. I hope to be wrong.

​@luketfer GW don't give a rats ass about something making sense in the lore unfortunately. They'll make redemptor Bjorn and even say he went through the Rubicon Primaris, completely ignoring the fact he's permanently entombed within the dreadnought sarcophagus and that redemptors kill their "pilots". If you don't believe me, just look at the Sanguinor. Primaris, even though nobody knows who or what he even is. Even if he is a purely physical being, who preformed the Rubicon surgery? If so why is his identity still a mystery? Who gave him his new Primaris sized armor? Tldr: GW doesn't care, everything MUST be Primaris. No matter what.

There’s no way any of the Wolf Guard Battle/Pack Leader in Terminator Armors weapon options remain, if the HQs even remain at all. Probably gonna Legends their unique Dreads given the BA Codex. Their codex is gonna be rough, calling it now

I would love to see TWC x6, Logan grim on his sled, maybe a upgrade kit to replace our dread as a box set or some terms with an ajoc leading them, but the TWC refresh and something to support them as our Battleforce box. Shoot Logan Grimnar and his sled with the sled being optional, x6 twc Ajac, and wolf guard terms x10 would be an amazing box

Wolf guard terminator models would be likely due to the new scale. Most other things like grey hunters and so on can be done with the upgrade sprue. An up scaled bjørn the fellhanded would be a massive addition well past time he got his own box rather than an optional build

I am surprised they are doing this, not because the wolves didn't need the refresh, but because putting so many SMs together is going to lead to a gaping hole in the next couple of years: People are already not always happy about the refreshes... who what happens when every SM unit is relatively new? Are we getting Secondaris Marines? How can they sell anything in the box for 11th edition if we are already drowning in an excessively large army range? They should instead be focusing efforts on trying to 'lift' some xenos armies, and slowing down the waterfall of marines, as to be able to keep them at a steady pace, and trying to build larger demand for anything else. See how well AOS does in a situation where the poster boys aren't really all that popular

clearly it isn't finished yet. Space Marines have consistently gotten so many new models every edition. I wouldn't be surprised if the non-codex compliant Chapters (BT, BA, DA, and SW) still get new models next edition. maybe an actual Death Company kit? or maybe a new original kit? maybe a jump Sanguinary Priest? GW has learned from Warhammer Fantasy. one of the things that killed that game is that everything was in the army, so even if they invented new models or units, they'd be too niche, or redundant for old players to buy, and so no one bought warhammer fantasy models, and it died (now succeeded by Age of Sigmar, and Old World.) It's clear that GW has a release schedule for their models and refreshes, and they release just enough every year that there's always something missing so that in the next release, people will still buy more. just look at this edition. was designing Jumppack intercessors really so hard that they couldn't release them alongside the Assault Intercessors in 9th edition? and the Brutalis and Ballistus Dreadnaughts? did it really take 6 years to design and make them? and The Terminators? why not also give us Assault Terminators alongside the newly refreshed Terminator Squads? Space Marines will ALWAYS have a steady stream of new models/refreshes trickled into the game because of just how profitable they are to GW. but that doesn't mean Xenos aren't getting love. just look at the T'au, this year alone they already got refreshes of two auxiliary forces, the Kroot, and the Vespids (to be fair the Vespids are only one Kill Team Kit) and for the Aeldari Community, I think it's already clear to them that part 2 of their Range Refresh will be coming out this edition. then for the new Xenos, the Leagues of Votann, are most definitely gonna get more models to expand their small model pool. and not to mention the Tyrannids, which is the big bad of the edition which just got a lot of new models and refreshes. Necrons just had a recent refresh last edition, but got 2 model refreshes for Imotekh, and Orikan (we wish Trazyn was refreshed too though :(... ) and minor ones are GSC getting new brood brothers kill team, and the Drukhari getting their mandrakes refresh from kill team (hopefully more good news for them in their release) the only Xenos faction that may have gotten the least good things this edition are the orks. so outside of the greenskins, Xenos fans are eating good this edition, not a buffet, but definitely a good meal.

The big challenge with the wolves is they had a larger range update compared to the BA and DA in previous editions. With so many unique units and characters for their chapter, Im actually very worried about how much will get removed or stay the same come their codex. There are obvious units that will get removed no doubt, but that will still leave easily 15 units that need an update. Im very worried about the Venerable Dreadnought kit thats composed of 3 unique builds, Bjorn being one of them. Although if the rumors are correct with Leman coming back, we could see a massive range refresh for the SW that we didnt get with the previous 2 chapters.

I'm thinking/hoping that they do upgrade sprues for blood claws and grey hunters. That way you have the most flexibility to choose whichever units gain the subsequent keywords and rules for those units. Other than that, going off of the previous releases, the rest of the initial update will be a new Wolf Guard kit, a new Lone Wolf kit, and a new wolf lord kit.

Awesome video Valrak! Got me hyped for this! I recently converted all my marines into my Homebrew SW successor chapter! If/when this happens I really hope they do the Sons of Russ justice and lean more into the Viking aesthetic. Either Thunderwolf Cavalry or Wulfen need the attention for sure, with a upgrade kit to convert infantry. Personally I think they need to update most of the characters as they are vital in the army. Really hope Leman Russ comes back with a glorious beard looking like Space Odin! 🤩🐺⚔️

My space wolf predictions: Thunder Wolf Cavalry, variant dreads (including Bjorn), and resin Characters legendsed. Primaris Intercessors with a new sprue. New Wolfen (groups of 3)/dual kit Wolf Guard. New Logan, new Ulrik, new Njal, maybe Russ (may as well finish up the 4 basic loyalist chapters). New Wolf Guard Terminators.

If I was in the position to make decisions at GW I'd have ordered new sculpts for each of the big chapters in space marines, so each can have their own distinct theme behind them. Optimistic view would be that GW does something like that for space wolves. Pessimistic view is the acknowledgement that GW wont wont to waste money on a minority of players. if GW cared they'd run a poll or vote ballet stating something like "if you like/dislike space wolves, please vote" resulting in a rough statistic displaying the likely-hood of selling space wolf sculpts instead of putting out some minor upgrade kits with a box of scouts and assault intercessors, like the Blood Angels.

I have been saying that Russ is going to return for the last 3 years. My predictions and hopes: Bjorn Update, new thunderwolf cavalry, new wulfen (which I really hope they lean in on the more wolfy aesthetic). Maybe a new Wolf Priest and Rune Priest models. As well, as new Primaris Bloodclaws, and bits sprue. Not 100% on this next prediction, but I think Logan is going to be taken out of the range, along with many of the named old guard (Arjac Rockfist, and Njal Stormcaller). Narratively, Ragnar Blackmane will become the new Wolf Lord. I for one am excited by the potential range refresh! Nothing better then Space Viking, Werwolves, in power armor! What a wonderful time to be the Furry 40K Player! >;)

Russ is the most likely loyalist primarch to come back next (after chaos got their last god-alligned primarch Fulgrim), with rumours pointing towards end of tenth. along side the return of Russ we'll get new stuff. see below for my guess on what models we'll get most likely to get refreshed as new models for space wolves: Logan, Arjac, Njal and wolf guard teminators (which also would automatically mean the wolf guard battle leader in terminator armour also gets a "model" as you get those from the wolf guard terminator kit). quite likely we'll also see unnamed wolf lord + runepriest or ironpriest or wolfpriest maybe a battle leader (lieutenant) due to BA getting a new captain + sanguinary priest kinda likely if not now then as a follow up: the SW dreadnoughts (they are quite likely for it in tenth as well, venerable and wulfen would most likely end up as upgrades to the redemptor chassi, bjorn and murderfang could see stand alone models but all four are in a kit together so probably all 4 will get refreshed), Lukas, fenrisian wolves and cyberwolf along with Ulrik and Krom. the thunderwolf cavalry and thunderwolf mounted hq's (wolf lord/Harald, Canis and battle leader) wulfen least likely for new models: blood claws/skyclaws, grey hunters, long fangs and non-terminator wolf guard. becoming primaris equivalent + upgrade sprue wolf scouts becoming new scout box + upgrade sprue stormfang/stormwolf, it's a flyer. in the current meta, flyers are not a common thing hopefully the return of some units that have been moved to legends, mainly hq/elite units mounted on bikes (might as well bring them to all space marines, and if so most likely in 11th at earliest) and on thunderwolves. really unlikely that the wolf priest, iron priest, rune priest on thunderwolves come back, at least as models, as datasheets at best IF returned

At minimum if they get Logan updated, make a specialized wolf priest that’s unique and bad ass if character or not, and get specialized standard marines with plenty pelts, helms axes just stuff that really makes main bulk of an army look good and few main characters or leaders im fine with it

The new Space Wolves sprue I would like to see make a come back is the the sawfish style eviscerator chainsword and a helmet that looks more like a snarling wolf. Arjac Rockfist & Njal Stormcaller in Terminator Armour refresh would be something to see happen.

For Russ and the Allfather! I could see them doing Wolf Guard. Maybe the WG Termies. I think Blood Claw will just be changed into upgrade sprue for Assault intercessor. I'd love upgrades for the Wulfen and a Wulfen Character, but I don't know the likely hood. Same for Thunderwolves. It'd be cool to get a completely new unit though.

Leman Russ won't be returning until 11th at the earliest. We have Robute in 7th, the Lion in 9th and we'll get a Loyalist in 11th. We've had Demon Primarchs every edition since 7th (Magnus for 7th, Mortarion for 8th, Angron for 9th and it'll be Fulgrim for 10th)

my general predictions (following previous releases for space marine chapters and GW's "generosity"); infantry/elites - wolf guard terminators (5x models per unit) - space wolves upgrade sprue (mainly focused around grey hunters intercessor/primaris pieces, plenty of pelts, furs, weapons and more importantly new wargrear for the redemptor dreadnought in the form of a grey axe, blizzard shield etc.) - thunderwolf cavalry (3x models per unit) HQs - logan grimnar - wolf lord on thunderwolf - arjac rockfist (to lead wolf guard terminators) - rune priest - njal stormcaller in terms of a "debut" boxset, i could see a box with 5x wolf guard terminators, 10x "grey hunters" (intercessors w/ upgrade sprue applied) and then arjac rockfist, generic rune priest and a redemptor dreadnought with those weapon upgrades previously found on the chapter unique venerable dreadnought the box would be a little less heavy on infantry unlike the blood angels box simply because in my dream world the space wolves upgrade sprue would be properly robust; plenty of pelts and accessories to spruce up the primaris range and most importantly giving weapon options to the normal dreadnought range to keep their unique flavor. as for a combat patrol... * 1x wolf lord on thunderwolf (HQ) * 3x thunderwolf cavalry * 10x intercessors * 1x rune priest being **realistic** with how GW does new combat patrols im still going for something a bit more generous - a good cavalry unit with a HQ leading it, a group of intercessors (once again with upgrade sprues to be run as grey hunters) and a rune priest; basically touching base with as many aspects of the army as possible remaining within GW's smaller scope for new combat patrols. now... if we were to get leman russ returning to the setting, i could 100% see a "2nd wave" release for the space wolves. in my mind, this would be; - leman russ: like the other two loyalist primarchs he'd have a pretty cool model - however, borrowing from models like morathi, leman russ would also have a wulfen primarch model; because it would be cool and introduce a unique dillemna for the imperium. another of their primarchs have returned but they are inflicted with a great mutation/curse... you could either have a gameplay mechanic where the model can be changed into the monster form mid match or you can run one or the other (leman russ himself being cheaper than his wulfen form) - normal leman would have the choice of leading a squad of wolf guard termies and wulfen russ would be able to lead a big mob of wulfen. - wulfen (10x models per unit) - ulrik the slayer - iron priest + cyberwolf (2 models in one set, acting like the gryph hounds from stormcast range)

- i do have a feeling bjorn the fell-handed won't be updated but i have doubts he will be removed from the codex (he should be updated with a glorious new model and pose but i don't think GW would do that...) - giving the wolf lord on thunderwolf an option to built as canis wolfborn would be a neat way to kill 2 birds with one stone. - i don't believe specific named characters like lukas the trickster, harald deathwolf, murderfang will survive the new codex. lukas could replace a captain (with no special rules), harald could fill in for a wolf lord on thunderwolf and murderfang could replace a brutalis dreadnought. i don't think any characters should be removed but it's pretty clear that GW seems to have it out for old resin/metal etc characters

Oh I thought they already got a refresh when gazghul got his model, but I went to the GW site and checked on the spacewolves models, and damn, the newest thing they have is the upgrade kit and typical space marine models. It's cool to see them get theirs. I hope they get what they want, but I am hoping moreso for greyknights, they're literally that drowning child meme right now. Personally though I want raven guard.

Given Pariah Nexus I want a Real Strong focus on the Battle Line units, I want a full refresh with Primaris Grey Hunters and Blood claws and then equally important is the Wolfguard. Wulfen and the Cyber wolves them selves feel less of a priority as they sort of had a refresh I think so less important but still a good thing. I think that's key for the Space wolves, Also any new Special units they might get.

I’m gonna be honest, Daemon Fulgrim is like 99% confirmed, based on GW patterns alone. Russ returned? Strong maybe? Depends on the Wolf refresh tbh. Edit: russ returns end of 10th, space Wolf refresh in 11th? Like the dark angels? Edit 2: Space Wolf units? Logan Grimnar Njal Maybe Ulric? Arjac? No. Bjorn? Upgraded Murderfang? Unlikely Canis and Harald? Not sure on either, at least one getting the chop though. Troop wise Grey hunters but it’s just upgraded primaris intercessors Blood claws but it’s assault intercessors Wolf guard? A 3 man unit, like the sanguinary guard and the inner circle Wolf guard terminators? Would be upgraded standard terminators like the deathwing. Flyers? Idk Thunderwolves? Untouched for now, phase 2 shenanigans

After the Blood Angels reveals, I can't say i'd be too hyped about Space Wolves. Don't get me wrong, I want more unique units for all of the chapters. I'd love to see some unique Space Wolves and I love the idea of the Death Wing and Sanguinary Guard and all of that. And I'd love to see all of the founding chapters get some sort of unique unit. But so far, every time they primarisafy the unique units, I think they look too bland and too generic Space Marine. So like the Sanguinary Guard just look like Jump Intercessors in gold. If Space Wolves are coming, I just hope they look good and aren't just generic Primaris but with beards or something. To be honest, to prove my concerns, just look at the Hounds of Morkai. They are exactly what i'm worried about

Given current “updates” space wolves will loose all first born units and fine cast (blood claws, long fangs etc) maybe get some upgrade sprue for terminators/primaries marine units maybe a wolf cavalry update and maybe a character but that’s it. they will streamline. there will be nothing new except for russ when he returns

@@scarecrow2621 the way it (usually) goes is that 1st year an army is released it gets about 5-6 units and a few HQs/ leaders, a year later you get at least 1 new leader character and a few more units and your done for at least 2ish editions barring 1 new character released for your codex or an event (i.e. arcs of omen we got the Lion). Votann and wrold eaters are due for their 2nd wave, EC is gonna get their 1st in the last year of 10th (like WE), TSons haven't gotten a 2nd wave since their release in 7th. So yes EC should get their 1st wave but TSons should also get their 2nd (along with votann and WE)
