For me, I plan to keep my books long-term, so I don't mind shelling out a premium to buy a brand new book on Amazon. Barnes & Noble pricing is generally outrageously priced. I usually browse in the store and add books to my Amazon wish list on my phone.

Thriftbooks.com is a great place to find books. On the website it tells u the quality of the books and they're usually under $5. So I would definitely recommend using that website ☺️
@ViktoriaLove9312 жыл бұрын
What you said about the overall price is soooo true! Because ALOT of great books you can find on amazon for a penny, but then there is a 3.99 shipping. That still means you're only paying $4 for that book when you could have spent $20!

bookdepository does not charge shipping anywhere in the world. I live in Serbia, and it does work very well! :)

There was a bookstore in my location that closed about a year ago but still upon in a lot of other places in US. I LOVE that they have a website where you can buy new and used with 96cent shipping on the whole book order! I like that most new paperbacks are 6.74. Also buy at least 5 books a week from the used section.

My tip is for those that do grocery shopping. You can get 1-3 new releases a month at your local Kroger, Safeway or Target. For instance Safeway last weekend had a buy $75 get a $10 catalina coupon towards a future purchase. I picked up Chime. Kroger had buy 6 of a certain item and get a $6 catalina, or buy 3 of a certain product get $4 catalina, etc. Target will give you $5 gift cards for buying certain items in multiples, usually listed every week on sites like totallytarget or hip2save.

PLATOS CLOSET!!!! There is a small or large section depending on which store location you go too. Hardbacks are from 4-8 dollars and paperback are 3-6. It's mostly contemporary YA but try it out! :)

I absolutely LOVE going to Goodwill for books! The discounted books section of Half Price Books is pretty good, too. (: I also love using Craigslist and Ebay. I found someone on Craigslist selling over 60 YA/popular books for $80 in my area!

eBay is the best! I got books 1-13 of the Wheel of Time series for $18, plus free shipping. I have also used Thriftbooks, which is good, but it has a pretty small selection in my opinion.
@JudithSanchez-ht6jn3 жыл бұрын
Yes thrift books does not have good selection. eBay is better option either they sends double book the price is so economically low that you do not lost money.

All the thrift shops in my area sell books for a dollar....BUT its always very messy/disorganized. At the library they have a separate book store (mainly donations) and they sell hardcovers for $2 and paperbacks for $1. I love going there because everything is always in order. :)

In India , we have shops selling used books in the big cities. In other places, we have to depend on online sources. We have an additional problem here: fiction is available, not serious non-fiction. I used to get my used books online from Infibeam.com .One of their main sources was Thrift books. They describe the condition of the books- excellent, good, acceptable etc. I have found this description accurate. I got more than 100 books from them, and all are in good condition. Lately, Amazon is also sourcing used books from them. The landed price is high here due to shipping, but otherwise we can't get these books at all. Just today I got "The Roman Search for Wisdom" by Michael Kellogg from Thrift Books through Amazon at 1/5 the original price. The book is as good as new!

I buy most of my books at the book depository (when you're outside the US and there are not many good book thrift stores around, it does end up being one of the cheaper options), and from play.com which is where I've gotten some of my cheapest books from when i got them second hand, although always in very good condition. no idea if it works only in europe or even in america though.

20 books for 50 bucks is not a good deal in the used book world. Unless the book is work a huge amount, like text books, experienced booksellers dont often pay more than 2 bucks a book. Often they get the book for a buck or less. Some Goodwills now sell on Amazon and they are not good places to go for inventory. Thriftbooks.com is also not the greatest place to go. Its great if you are buying for yourself or maybe even an indy bookstore but to sell as used on Amazon (because its almost impossible to sell a new book on Amazon now) thriftbooks may not leave you with any profit. Its all about the buy. In this business its ALL about the buy. Buy right and you will profit. Buy wrong and you could lose not just a little money but a lot of money.
