Interesting Fact- This Beast was also used during early stages of WW2- Battle for France Campaign (1940)

Only as a propaganda weapon to boost morale among the public. In the eyes of the public they looked like huge monsters which dwarfed other tanks at the time. Fact is none was ever actively sent into combat as their performance was inadequate by 1940 levels. Most were sent away by train to elude capture and others sabotaged/destroyed by their own crews. Armor simply had become much more mobile and tanks could be rapidly deployed using trains to transport them there or the tanks themselves could travel reasonable distances themselves. The Char 2C was designed for trench warfare but lacked the mobility required.

Hey Phly just want to add to your history lesson the first anti tank weapon used by the Germans in ww1 were standard Mauser gewehr 98 . Some soldiers in 1916 and 1917 started to be issued the special 8mm bullets made of dense metal that were in a certain way capable of punching through the less armored parts of the tank
