Is it a weird turn for her story? Yeah, kind of. Does it give off some unfortunate implication? Sure. But those conversations make it seem as if Bridget now being trans would end the world. Hell, had some still say it's a mistranslation and forced, even after Daisuke went "She's trans," not accepting what the creator himself said. And Lightyear was just tiring. Clearly, the gay kiss that may as well not have been there for how little impact it had is the real issue, instead of every other problem Lightyear has.
