You are the best. The best voice, best explanation and best jokes! All other tutorials done by other artists are super boring and therefore impossible to learn. But not yours! Thank you 😊

Yep. Stuck it out. It was another very informative tutorial. Usually watch these at around midnight BST, so plenty for my mind to work on overnight, and put into action the following day. Yeah it was long, but never boring. Thanks again.

Coming back to this channel and remembering how much it taught me with Toon Boom. Thank you for all your work! It made college a bit too… easy to understand honestly 😂

Great stuff in the ep. I will surely need to watch it a few times so I don't miss any of the the shortcuts you have.

Wow. You make it seem so easy. I started almost 2 years ago, starting with Adobe Animate, and last fall began using Toon Boom. The comment on my “pilot” was that it was very flat. I never learned how to rig the turnarounds, but have been just this week rebuilding the head to be less static. Your videos will defo be helping me understand how to allow myself to let go so tight to how things “have to be”. There are things that you say that absolutely break how I thought about how this all works- in the best way! I will attempt to be able to apply the things I am learning here to my own work. Thank you!!!

Hey, Tracy ... I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing this kind of video! Really, thank you so much for this. You helped me a lot with my animation project. I do not know how to thank you enough for all this. You are truly an angel who helps others on this journey.

You always post such high quality videos! I love them! Could you do a video on the challenges that come from rigging non-human characters? I'm working on a project right now that involves rigging a bunch of vehicles. Cars, helicopters, bicycles. What's the best way to rig wheels? I've been doing a lot of replacement drawings for when they turn, and I suspect that's the best way, but I'd be interested to know if you know of a better one.

Thanks :D I do go over it a bit in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpnNfYaco6aMf6c&t The easiest way is to do a flat wheel with a separate pegs to rotate for spin, and squish it to fake the perspective. Then you can add a layer behind the wheel to create the thickness that isn't actually moving, you can just add some swoosh fx that make it look like its' moving. I've also seen instances with something like a bicycle, where the spokes are on a separate layer and are just being cut by the wheel. :)

I've been going through all your old videos on the weekends, but I haven't done that one yet! I will take a look! Thank you. :)

im using your rig but i dont have the deformation markers on the eyebrows like you do, i have selected the pegs and art layers and pressed 'show the selected deformation chain' for both but its not there

also i dont understand why you have 'blu > Blu_1-P > Blu_translate_Peg_1' i thought 'Blu_1-P' was for moving the character around?

Hey, awesome videos. What is the shortcut to select the Peg on top? So you click on the fore-arm, but then you need to select the arm Peg, which is in the Shoulder Peg, which is in the torso Peg... is there a fast way to navigate up and down through those pegs/layers? (excluding the timeline and node view) Thanks
@StylusRumble5 жыл бұрын
if you're using standard short cuts, b is up, shift b is down. h is left and j is right. I always have the node view open and the letter o will center on your selection. That way you can be sure you're where you want to be.

can you touch on Inverse Kinematics in relation to your professional work?
@StylusRumble7 жыл бұрын
fivebyfour - I did a quick overview, I can't remeber which video - I think it's called "foot plant, IK Reverse leg" or something like that. Compared to a 3d rig, it's like a brand name immitation. I have never used it in my pro work. Ever. :/ I find it's easier to deconstruct a character and reverse all the limbs in the network, or disconnect the limbs all together to get hands or feet to stick. I am going to ask around and see if any of my collegues use it.

This is really helpful! Out of curiosity, where are the eyelids that can be moved around in the Blu rig? I can only find drawing substitutions for the eyelids in the eye layer.

I have a bunch of general-rigging tutorials in a playlist. kzbin.info/aero/PLuCKogNDDT3oJcsv6Vo0LFNZj5YJpE39z Leaning the fundamentals of the program will help you learn to rig anything. Very complex rigs are just lots of little problems, so start with the biggest stuff, and work your way down to little details.
