Or maybe the merchant who traded me an automatic combat rifle for a bucket of Psychobuff. They may want to keep an eye on the restaurant too, I sold them a bunch of roasted dog meat.

There’s actually a secret voice line if you have two companions with you (using mods) when you enter vault 81 for the first time but one of the companions you have to bring is dogmeat, the guard that says “what about his/her friend” or “what about his/her dog” will actually say “what about his/her friend and dog” which just basically confirms that you were always supposed to have dogmeat with you as a constant companion. In fact there’s actually a few lines like that throughout the game even in dlcs. Like in the automatron dlc using mods if have both dogmeat and Ada as a companion if dogmeat goes down, Ada will comment something along the lines of dogmeat looks hurt and when you heal dogmeat Ada will also comment something about how dogmeat looks better. Which shows that making dogmeat a regular companion must of been a really last minute decision.

It would be an interesting mini-update if the bounties you take in Diamond, Goodnieghbor, Castle, Airport, Institute Green Lab and Bunker Bed Post affected your Karma with which companion you currently have and the outcome after completion to all and any companions you have? Like either peacefully get a Raider Boss to turn themselves in after a bad robbery or blind elimination of a forming Super Mutant War party?

Would’ve been nice if the game actually restricted through lore and story reasons which companions you can bring where. Like yeah, it’s fucking stupid that Vault 81, Diamond City, Covenant and The FUCKING BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL limit themselves to throwing some verbal jabs at you because you brought Strong with you. Like, at least put some checks to the table, let us intimidate or persuade some officer or security guard to let them through, this feels cheap.
