@@RMG791 If the DVD release of the original TV airing is anything to go off of, Drummond did Vegeta until halfway through the Frieza Saga, and then Sabat copied the voice until he slowly transformed it into his own version. If I recall correctly, it was after Sabat that Drummond got the chance to come back and do his version of later sagas.

I loved Brian Drummond as Vegeta when he first started out, because he makes him sound young. Then Christopher Sabat later on, especially during later Frieza saga, into the Cell saga. He made his voice deeper, like he grew up over those few years.

1: Chris Sabat: While he started off very bad, he rapidly improved and by Kai and BOG, he truly made Vegeta his own. His anger, pride, and arrogance are all portrayed perfectly by his voice now. After all this time, Sabat truly became Vegeta. 2: Brian Drummond: While his voice is too high, I was absolutely amazed by his wrath scene. Great performance there. He made Vegeta sound absolutely terrifying. Roger Rhodes and Milton James are both miscast and don't portray Vegeta well at all. 5: Ryo Horikawa: While at times, he can sound pretty good, his voice just seems too childish and whiny. Vegeta is a ruthless prince of a legendary warrior race but many times, Horikawa just makes him sound like a 13-year old.

i thought the original transition from drummond to sabat mid-namek saga was appropriate and actually the best combo. Drummond did a better job than sabat for the saiyan saga as a near primally aggressive villain. (sort've like a raging loose canon) And I thought that sabat's voice for the android/cell saga portrayed a more mature cocky, dignified prince full of honor that packed serious attitude along with epic power up yells.

Brian Drummond for the fucking win. Has the scream of god, an angry and villainous voice and fills the role of Vegeta PERFECTLY. He gave Vegeta something that is lacked throughout all the other voices - EMOTION. He made vegeta sound like a conniving, angry, psychopathic prince. Ocean Kai and Ocean Super were confirmed by him to be aired and dubbed July 2017. I cannot wait for one of my favorite voice actors of all time to return to Dragon ball Z for the first time in almost ... holy shit has it really been 20 years!?

Brian Drummond as early/ 'young' Vegeta was perfect - then Sabat took over and transitioned the voice quite well during the Namek Saga end - he went from doing a Drummond impression almost to having the much deeper and maturer version of Vegeta we know today.

#1) Christopher Sabat- Perfect. He nails the role, his voice is age-appropriate for a 35 y/o warrior prince and stays this way: his voice gives off the regal, elegant yet powerful, prideful warrior Vegeta, which is who Vegeta is. #2) Brian Drummond- Great. His voice is too high-pitched at times for a guy this old, and he sounds more like a weasel than a warrior, but he can scream better than Chris and his acting is excellent. I love how psychotic he can get at times, though. #3) Rodger Rhodes- What Ken93Cy said, really. #4) Milton James- Nice princely feeling there, but man, NOT a warrior's voice and almost TOO regal a tone for a fighter to have...the worst.

What’s so interesting is I distinctly remember Brian’s voice over from watching DBZ in the early 00s on Toonami here in the UK, specifically the saiyan and frieza saga. That being said, there must have been some sort of mish mash with the dubs however because Chris’ voice over just seems so much more dominant.

FUN FACT: in german when vegeta was show for the first time in saiyan saga he had german spongebobs voice. (Cuz dbz is older it would mean that spongebobs voice was og vegetas voice)

Brian Drummond ftw. Sabat has had about 3 times to get Vegeta right and had to play him for over 10 years in games and other media to master it. Drummond only dubbed him once in the series and it still holds up today. That's a professional. Btw Drummond is the only Vegeta who can actually scream worth a damn. In a show full of long power ups and characters screaming their attacks you need a guy who can yell good.

Chris sabat is good, and I like him as vegeta. but I grew up with Brian drummond's distinctively smooth yet gravely voice. it certainly fits the design more, as I think the more robust that vegeta has gotton as the series progresses, Chris sabat fits the bill as him as he is now!

Totally agree. Once the Frieza saga ended and the art style changed, Drummond's raspy cool voice didn't work as well. Not to mention, I have heard Drummond's later "Vegeta voice" and it seemed he tried to go deeper with his voice and it just sounds off somehow. I still prefer the straight up Japanese voices for all the characters, though. Nobody can mimic the playfulness Masako Nozawa's voice brings to Goku.

i actually love drummond's vegeta voice to this day. i remember when dbz first aired in the u.s. the voices were of the ocean dub. vegeta became my favorite mainly because how much i thought his voice suited him. when funiamtion took over about half way through the namakian saga i actually hated chris sabat's portrayal of vegeta. i eventually grew used to it and i of course like sabats voice for vegeta now but i would love to rewatch the entire of the series in the ocean dub espicially for piccolo and vegetas voice actors in those particular dubs
