I get some parts of your statement... but who though doesn't 'pander'. The question then arises... if you abstain from voting... essentially voting for the other side (i.e. if you have preferred on)....chances your desired outcome diminishes as the 'other' side implements measures {regulations, laws, policies etc] to prevent it....or delays it. The key point being.... a voter's issues won't necessarirly align 100% with the representative... as representatives need to serve a variety of interests.... what's important is to keep pushing on areas where they are lacking.
