1. Charlene's journey into nursing - Her mother was a nurse, and she always wanted to be a nurse or a flight attendant. She found nursing very fulfilling, especially working in the NICU.
2. Changes Charlene would like to see in healthcare - More diversity and representation in leadership positions, a shift from a business model to a more person-centered, patient-focused approach, and a greater focus on the well-being of healthcare workers.
3. Charlene's experience with racism and discrimination in the nursing profession, and how she moved from anger and anguish to action and impact by sharing her stories and leading discussions on race.
4. Charlene's advice for aspiring nurses - Go into nursing because of a genuine passion for helping people, not just for the money. Maintain a sense of who you are and your personal vocation, not just your occupation.
5. Charlene's self-care practices - Spending quality time with her family, taking intentional breaks and time off to rediscover her purpose, and following the "whispers of her heart" to pursue meaningful activities.
6. The most essential quality of a nurse, according to Charlene - Compassion, both towards others and towards oneself.
7. Charlene's parting advice - When you feel a sense of unrest or restlessness, don't ignore it, but instead take the time to listen to what your soul is trying to tell you and make necessary changes.
