What I hear is, he knew he was responsible for others and didn't want to burden them when they needed his help. I have mixed emotions about this. "Stiff upper lip" can get you through some harsh times, but it's going to catch up to you one way or another. In his youth Chuck was one of the most openly angry dudes in sports-- he got in fights with fans, on the court, in bars, all kinds of situations. You can't just make pain like that disappear. Today, however, I find Chuck to be one of the most genuinely empathetic people on television. Yeah, he doesn't panic, but he CLEARLY feels for others-- and if reports are true, he helped protect the TNT crew and staff from "Inside the NBA" getting canceled.

Real strength is knowing your emotions and processing them in a healthy way so you can get back to being your best self, not suppressing them so you trudge rough life as a shell with unhealed trauma that you make someone else deal with for you. Young men are being indoctrinated by toxic people and there's a lack of opportunity and purpose in their lives, this can lead them down rabbit holes where they are taught to not feel their emotions and bitter
