Why? 1: When did Austin say he was one of the 30? 2: When did Austin say anything about playing defense? 3: Why would it be impossible for the best 6’3-6’8 athletes in the NBA to become a Red Zone threat catching TDs in the end zone over 5’10 CBs? Zion could never win a 1vs1 over a regular CB in the NFL as a Red Zone threat? GTFOH PS: Austin is especially correct now when the rules of contact have changed in the NFL because it was always going to be mentality and not athletics that would stop them from succeeding!

2 things here. #1: Thomas Davis for the Carolina Panthers played in the 2015 Superbowl one week after having his entire forearm shattered and stapled together and played well and continued his career for years. An NBA player would be out for at least 1 season if not ever play again. #2: Brock Lesnar tried to make play in the NFL and could not make it. The Load Management, Country Club, Drip Fashion Show boys who are all afraid of Draymond Green would pee in their pants and cry if they were on an NFL field. You have a few screws loose to even play NFL football or box or mixed martial arts. Those are three sports only the extremely tough survive.

I mean Charlie Ward was a Heisman winner and played in the NBA. A lot of players in the NBA and NFL played both in high school. The NBA players would be WRs, maybe safeties, a couple can play CB. They would mostly be at the skilled position. NFL players because of their rough nature would be like the Charles Oakley role. Tough guy. I respect both sports for what they are. NFL is tougher. NBA more finesse in my opinion. Neither sport is easy. Austin and James Jones need to shut the hell up.

Why would it be impossible for Ex Zion, Ant, Gordon any of these 6’5-6’7 220-270lbs Uber athletic Wings to become Red Zone threats in the NFL? That basketball guy is a clown. Football players can get seriously hurt on any given down. I Bet there are more football players that could play basketball if they wanted to. Basketball players cry for mommy when they are barely touched. Basketball players are the 4th softest athletes next to soccer players, tennis players and golfers. Football players and NHL hockey are the toughest. Hockey definitely requires more skill. Unlike 20 years ago, basketball players don't really have to worry about being hit very hard anymore. Not like when Jordan and Charles Barkley played.

There’s really not probably over three players in each major pro sports league that could play in the other major pro sports leagues. Can anyone imagine LeBron taking the pitch for Man United or Chelsea or Arsenal in Premier League? Can anyone imagine Mahomes playing in the NHL? Can anyone imagine Ohtani taking Centre Court at Wimbledon for a huge match? The thing is every major pro sports league is so elite there just isn’t going to be a high level of cross over possible. As Brock Lesnar said when he tried out for the Vikings. In athleticism, he was their equal. But they were in football grad school and he was in football kindergarten

There’s infinitely more complexity to football than basketball. A place kicker, a db, an edge rusher, a center, a qb … are in the same sport; but they’re hardly playing the same game. Secondly theres NBA athleticism (wow I can’t believe a guy that gangly can move, good for him) and then there’s NFL athleticism which is an order of magnitude different.

A league that combined football and basketball would be pretty sick. Instead of uprights there is a hoop on each end (bigger hoop pitched at 45 degree angle. You can either dunk after reception or after a rush (or throw it in at some distance after catch or rush). Extra point is the QB throwing it in behind the line of scrimmage at the five yard line from shotgun. What type of guys are you gonna put on your team?

I mean the playbook comparison alone would hamper most NBA players, not to mention the extra 70 yards they'd have to defend. Also the strength of nfl players is unbelievable. Find me one nba player that can bench 225lbs 31 times. Even 20 times for that matter. I’m sure there is a few but not many.NFL is a different game and it’s brutal.

I think there are definitely 30 NBA players that could play in the NFL. Who they are? No clue. But look at Shaq, obviously he is a gifted athlete. He had a show where he took on elite arhletes in their own sport with minimal training. Swimming against Michael Phelps with Shaq having a handicap Shaq lost. But Phelps was stunned at how quickly Shaq learned and almost beat Phelps. Way back we had Percy Snow (KC Chiefs) and Eric Snow (Supersonics, Bucks and Cavaliers). These two are within an inch of each other and 40 lbs. Eric looked tiny out on the court whereas Percy looked pretty big. Those tiny point and shooting guards will be normal sized on the football field. Those 30 NBA players don't have to start in the NFL, they just have to be serviceable. Now flip it from NFL to NBA. I think way more NFL players could succeed in the NBA. If Mark Eaton made a squad, there's definitely a minimum of 60 NFL players that could hold spots on NBA teams.

In my high school the best athletes are the football players and its not close. ALL,ALL of the basketball players would never dare tryout for the football football team cuz they know are are not stupid.

Lets be honest football is too physical for nba players, and the nba has been watered down since Golden State won their last championship. Basketball has sort of taken a step down from that point on

Well, according to LeBron, most NBA players can't understand how to flip a play (something he could do since he was 8) so why would I believe they are smart enough to be able to switch sports and succeed?

Everyone: NFL is too soft in 2024 cause you can’t hit players anymore. Everyone: NBA players can’t play in the NFL because they can’t take hits.

The clips just proved Austin right to some degree; the clips were just guys getting hit, no athleticism shown lol. Now I don’t agree that there’s 30 guys but I will say 10 to 15 that can!! Also there’s probably 10 guys who can play in the nba as roles players….maybe!!

Most players in both the NBA and NFL were 2 or 3-sports athletes back in their youth. Sure they might still have the appropriate knowledge and skillsets to play the game. But at the pro-level, making a lateral transition just like that? Both sports trains their body in very different ways, cardio-wise and physical-wise. Were their skillset in the other sports good enough to have been drafted and survive the pros? That would be tough to say.

If they played football at an elite level before choosing basketball, then sure maybe its possible. Same the other way around. But both games require constant tuning of skills for that specific sport, day in and out. So yeah aint none of either sport gonna hop over suddenly after dedicating years to just one sport. Maybe if they could rewind back to highschool or college and choose to focus on the other sport. Lebron could have deff been a TE in the nfl, if he had chose football, he was a really good football and basketball player. But after years of focusing on just basketball, hell no.

Rivers is out of his mind. This dude was a strait bust. 7 teams in 11 yrs and averaged like 7pts per game. The nba is sooo soft. Great athletes yes. When a player gets cut under the hoop they land in the hardwood and grab head like they got hit in head, grab lower back and roll around for three minutes while the game is stopped and the refs review the level of foul.. The nba is pathetic right now. I fell like a feel smaller shifty players like Jalen Brunson could carry the ball but, 6’6 210 pound dudes would get cut in half in the nfl

The greatest athletes in the world are boxers and soccer players. I only give boxers an edge over soccer players because no one is punching the soccer players. Basketball players only think they can actually box. But they can’t. Whole argument is really stupid.

He needs to stop. Football is like a car crash. Let a corner hit him mid-air. He'd be singing a new tune. The pads alone would have them running back to basketball. JJ Watt told it best. End of story.
