We were close to the front sitting down, and I turned around to see how many people were in the theater, and guess who I saw, The Big Fundamental, sitting in between 2 body guards watching the same movie I was. Too bad no one had smart phones for selfies at that time. As soon as the movie finished, I looked back and saw him and the guards exiting before anyone else left. And that is why Tim Duncan is my favorite player ever. He gave the game everything he had, then transitioned that same energy to his life after basketball. Doesn't waste his time spending his life trying to sell his own past legacy. He simply doesn't care about your meaningless debates.

In 2009 I met Tim Duncan briefly. We were at the Bayfront Lodge in Erie, Pennsylvania celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Tim was walking through the lobby with his wife and his little kids. Rode elevator up with them, told him good luck on upcoming season, he was very quiet, cordial. Was about it. Seemed to be shyness to him. Nice man.
