It's one of my favorite parts, so here's the quote :) “By all means,” cried Bingley; “let us hear all the particulars, not forgetting their comparative height and size; for that will have more weight in the argument, Miss Bennet, than you may be aware of. I assure you, that if Darcy were not such a great tall fellow, in comparison with myself, I should not pay him half so much deference. @cathryncampbell8555 Жыл бұрын
god jihyo's apostle: This depiction of an ever-calm Jane reinforces Miss Lucas's concern that Jane does not express her affection for Mr. Bingley with enough force for Mr. Bingley to *perceive* her attraction to him. Jane is the proper, restrained Georgian lady -- but that very restraint hobbles her ability to convey her interest.

@Musicienne-DAB1995 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure wanting her daughters to be happy quite describes it. She certainly wanted them to be financially secure in the event of Mr. Bennet's death. But she also wanted the increase in importance and pecuniary advantage that came with such marriages. If happiness had been her only motivation, then why did she chastise Elizabeth Bennet for daring to refuse Mr. Collins?

But the problem is, Bingley is incapable of standing up for himself. He left his girl because his friend told him to, I don’t think girls would like a man who can’t stand up for them and himself. With that aside, he’s still a good guy.
@Musicienne-DAB19952 жыл бұрын
@@IssyFishyy Well, I don't think it's that simple. It was very difficult to persuade Charles Bingley to give up Jane Bennet until Mr. Darcy convinced him that Jane Bennet did not return his feelings. Even so, Mr. Darcy was never sure that Charles Bingley would not return to his former love should he see Jane in London. So he wasn't that ductile, and I think Elizabeth eventually gave him that credit once she discovered the whole affair. It's true that Charles Bingley was very suggestible, but his attachment to Jane was stronger than his professed caprice over, say, purchasing an estate.

I think we really come to understand the Bingley’s lower social status (as they made their money in trade, which was a four letter word to Society) in the humility and acceptance of Charles. He was one of my favorite characters for this reason! He would have had an easier time adjusting as he was a young, handsome, amiable man with money who was actually open to the idea of marriage, but still, I adore his relationship with Jane in this film! How he clearly doesn’t understand the finer points of genteel society and she graciously makes his mistakes less noticeable. How he openly longs for her. How he has to practice his proposal with his True Genleman Friend, Mr. Darcy, and how both he and Jane ultimately fail for the “eloquent language” and just say, “ I love you!!”

There's a reason for that. The actors were dating RL and Jane's actress was feeling emotions she hoped to feel soon.

2:06 I imagine Mr. Darcy's thoughts at that moment: "I'm not interested in family dramas but I'm going to pretend that I'm interested in what she says because my crush is here"

I love that they included the part with Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley rehearsing for Bingley's proposal. I watched the '95 series (bought from CDON) and it had more these moments with men alone. I wouldn't mind getting maybe a new movie, or better series with a mix bit '95 and '05. They both have their own good things. '05 movie has better made to show the sisterly relationships between all the sisters, well, except Mary she doesn't show up much.

Mr. Bingley is the very OPPOSITE of mean spirited obnoxious or leacherous. He is such a delight I'm relieved the world still has people like him in it..

Bingley is a perfect confection of perfectionness, and every time I watch the 2005 P&P I love him even more. Why is he so perfectly wholesome ❤

I know every woman dreams of Mr. Darcy but hand on heart I want a Mr Bingley. I want someone so head over heels for me that he asks his arrogant, pompous best friend to help him propose

When I reread Pride and Prejudice this year, as well as watching the 1995 series, I found myself liking Charles Bingley and Jane Bennet even more than before.

Bingley in this adaptation is just adorable, you can't not love him. Of course, I'm a Darcy kinda girl myself, but Bingle is just... So cute ♡♡♡¿
