Christopher Vakulchik The first family moved to another city but recommended him to the new family that was moving in.The only reason they switched families was bcuz they claimed audiences thought the first family was dull and boring so they had to go get the cute teen blonde that woukd make teen girls and boys watch.And the crazy war vet grandfather who older people might relate too and the stereotypical 12 year old boy who does dumb shit but the first boy was more relatable in fact all the kids were.But like i said it was boring so they had to go blonde with the kids and be stereotypical to get better ratings

The first season was on prime time television, but the ratings weren’t good so it was cancelled, however during its syndication(basically when it would rerun on television) it became popular so they brought it back for four years, I guess they just decided to recast most of the supporting cast

C. Kinchman No, she wasn't on the first season of CIC. The show was on CBS late '84 for only a little over a mo before being cancelled. It was picked up for first-run syndication and premiered in early '87 with Nichole Eggert joining the cast and lasted four more seasons 'til late '90. Her allegations are that Baio had been "physically affectionate" during the show's production, but they did not have sex till after it was over. She said she was 17 years old, Baio says she was 18. We'll see how it all plays out.

In the episode "Dutiful Dreamer", the family's name comes up in Charles's dream providing him with the solution to help The Powells keep their house. I would have loved to see Mr. and Mrs. Pembroke guest star together with their kids visiting Charles and interacting with the Powells in a special reunion episode. But it wasn't meant to be. I agree with you though. The Pembrokes deserved to have a Charles In Charge spinoff series.
