Without a doubt, Charles you are a national treasure, one of a kind and quite unique with a passion for an era when America was literally overflowing with positive energy. Your focus on the fine art sculptural qualities of every detail of the cars of the era, arguably the pinnacle of American visual and functional design, stirs the soul and defines the spirituality associated with excellent design. Magic!.

It was 1960.....my Mother's aunt drove her '57 Sedan de Ville (blue with white top).from Houston to Dallas to see us....was cold blustery evening arrival.....3 of us took a little tour in the Cad...asked her about gas mileage...she replied: 'depends on the headwinds'.....she had been driving into strong cold front on trip...guess that's all she had to say about it.....but have that memory...car was fabulous to ride in.....king of the road feel....she traded in a '56 Olds Super 88 2 door..which I rode in from Dallas to Port Arthur couple of years earlier.

I absolutely adore these beautiful '50s Cadillacs! And I also adore how Charles Phoenix always stages his JOYRIDE videos in these gorgeous upscale mid-century modern neighborhoods, in order to provide the perfect backdrop for these sumptuously luxurious and futuristic World-Class National Treasures as they slowwwwly glide past, so that we may better behold their glory in a proper context!

What a gorgeous car! I can relate to what the owner said about being obsessed with power windows from an early age. When I was about 4 years old in the early 60's my aunt from out of town came to visit us in her 1958 Lincoln. I can still remember (probably one of my earliest memories) going all over that car and playing with the power windows and seats which worked even when the car was not running. I had never seen anything like that and the car made a big impression on me. I still remember the nest of chrome buttons on the driver side door. It would be 1972 before my family bought a car with power windows. A 1972 Chevy Impala fast back coupe. I was with my dad when he was car shopping and I hunted down one of the few Chev Impala's with power windows in the new car lot and convinced him to buy it. Even at that time power windows were rare and even the higher trim Chevy's such as the Caprice came with roll-up windows as standard so it was a rare find and I was happy that we finally had power windows LOL. Today of course almost every car sold comes with power windows and many other "goodies" as standard. Even the cheapest cars! These features don't have the same mystique anymore since the power window switches are all cheap black plastic switches even on high-end cars - I think the only exception being Rolls and Bentley. Gone are the jewel-like chrome switches of the early days. The driver side door console on the top of the line Mercedes today is no more special than that on a mid-level Hyundai.

Charles and Chris, thank you. Chris, I'm so glad that you make the effort to keep this beautiful car original. Charles, those were all very excellent rules. You forgot one. Never, Never, Ever, close a door by pushing on the window! That will cause the glass to become loose in the channel and cause operation problems and rattles. Close doors by pushing on the door handle.

Technically, this is a Series 62 two door hardtop with the Coupe DeVille option. Adding the Coupe DeVille package upgraded the trim and content to Cadillacs highest level for the series.

This is a true “coupe Deville “ not a series 62 see the headline trim and the power windows etc? These mentioned options was not avail on the series 62 Also the highest level of the coupes as the “Eldorado Seville” and the higher level convertibles was the “ Eldorado” and also the sedans highest level was the “ Eldorado Brougham “ just a heads up👍🏽

Enjoyed the video this coupe is stunning, in my opinion all Cadillacs from the 50's & 60's are! Never have I regretted my decision to subscribe Sir, unlike some other car sites I won't mention. Thought I was the only person that strongly disliked when some refer to these beautiful American motorcars as "boats", barges", or my most hated term "land yacht"! You Sir are correct these automobiles should be called national treasurer's!

I love the comment implying that you reign supreme from the driver’s seat. You really do. Let’s give credit to the dashboard designers who really laid the shiny stuff down on this one: truly a gorgeous layout. Out back, I love the integrated exhausts...very cool. And, did anyone notice all the room under that hood? The engine takes up only 75% of the available space. The bullet bumpers are practically in another time zone, arriving a few minutes before you do. And, and, and, those swept forward C pillars are super cool. Not a huge fan of 57s (I like them a bit sleeker) but, you cannot deny the elegance of this “very fine motor car...” Did I see filigree on the chrome surrounds of the ash trays? Behold indeed.

I am beholden of the glory! The simplistic styling before Harley Earl went off the chromium deep end. And is that the radio speaker above the transmission hump? Maybe it’s there so Chris can crank up Si Cranstoun’s musical homage to Coup deVille? To joyride with King Charles in Palm Springs would truly be nirvana. I know!

GM certainly had money to burn in those days. The ‘58 shared little with the previous year as while they were similar, most of the sheet metal was not interchangeable. The ‘59 was a COMPLETELY different car as we all know, and that’s what customers expected back then. Annual model changes and not hanging on to the same ugly, boring cars for too many years like they did in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. That ‘57 was and still IS a real beauty! 😍

The '57 is one of my very favorite Cadillacs! This is an absolutely beautiful example... Looks like it has everything except maybe air conditioning. The interiors in these are probably the most luxurious I've ever seen in any car! Back in the mid Eighties, I owned a beautiful '57 Coupe Deville in "Mountain Laurel" (Pink) with a white roof and black and white interior... I'll never forget driving thay car through downtown Houston one night... My brother and I went to see a band play. I wasn't thinking and didn't fill it up before leaving Spring, Texas where we lived. There apparently wasn't enough fuel for our return trip and it puked out on a side street... right in the middle of the road with cars parked on each side! We had to climb out of the windows and both of our skinny selves had to push that monster a good thousand feet to get it to a parking space on the curb😂 I'm pretty sure that those weigh in at around 5,000 pounds 😅 What a memory... It still makes me laugh whenever it comes up.

I was re-watching your Joy Ride on the 1958 Cadillac just the other day. I was thinking...has Charles yet presented a 1957 Cadillac? And here it is! Thank you so much. This and the 1962 Coupe de Ville are my 1a and 1b Cadillacs of choice. Once again, a brilliant depiction of this beauty. And to think, you did this on-the-spot with a U-turn involved. Gosh, just great. I, as a much younger person, with a couple of friends used to drive around looking for a chance to view precious automobiles, in person. Now, you do it for me. I am happy that you enjoy this so much, along with your mid-century home presentations. OK, enough, you are fantastic. Oh, did you purchase the 1960 green/white Fury? You just seemed to have some extra love for that car in your presentation.

It's a rolling piece of art. Did it have ac? My father's first "nice car" was a 1965 Cadillac Calais Coupe, Starlight Silver, grey cloth. Dad had three over the years and I've had 6 Cadillac's in my time. My newest one is a 95 Fleetwood Brougham, medium marblehead metallic, taupe leather, has the 7k tow package. I use it to pull my vintage 1967 Airstream travel trailer. 1974-76 Fleetwoods were one of my favorites growing up in the 80s. Charles, you sure can find some sweet cars.

Most people think of the ‘59 when the words ‘50’s Cadillac’ come up, but I like the ‘57-‘58 better…last of the Harley Earl chrome craziness, shared with senior Buicks and olds. in ‘59 the whole GM lineup shared the cowl, roofline, and glass so were less distinctive. But any Cad is gonna be awesome no matter what
