Leaving got him a SB RING , I wish he would have scored the ring with raiders, but that was not going to happen especially after the SB loss to the BUCS. Had AL DAVIS not traded CHUCKY, the raiders would have won one , if not two. What might of been.

It was the best thing that happened for him. He got humbled and rededicated himself. Got in apex shape and really became a student of the game. That wouldn’t have happened in dysfunctional Oakland.

The “GM” Woodson is referring to is Mike Lombardi. He never really was GM. But AL basically listened to anything he said. How funny that 06’ was ironically his last year in Oakland As well.

I always felt like him getting humbled in free agency lit a fire under him that made him dominate in Green Bay. He was a bit lazy in Oakland, as good as he still was in the first stint. As a Raiders fan it hurt when he left, and it hurt when he won, but he came back and I think the love between him and the fans was clear.

I feel Charles needed Don Capers and GB to mature - he became a brilliant defender that could play anywhere on the field - he could blitz, he could play man, nickel, zone, any safety positions - in Oakland he was a pure man to man lockdown corner that blitzed on occasion. His body was also taking a beating playing that way in Oakland.

The boys really missed an opportunity to press Woodson about who the “GM” of the Raiders was at the time. Everyone knows Al was in control of the Raiders personnel decisions until he passed, Charles did a great job dancing around the topic as to not name Davis, but I think it’s obvious who he’s referring to and it’s not Lombo
