Considering Victor’s work with kids’ camps and as an ambassador for the instrument, I can’t help but imagine that he is happy to see the capability of the bass pushed, possibly even further, by someone citing him as an inspiration. I think it’s neat to see someone like Victor push the human potential further, and then see others build on that foundation. I mean the following with utmost respect: you are a talented musician having the benefit of standing on the shoulders of this giant. Your accomplishments are your own, and your brilliance is undeniable-but it’s impossible to overstate how amazing Victor’s accomplishments are, and the debt that next-gen virtuosos owe him. I’m glad to see you pay homage, even though you seem to either already be, or are likely to become, superior to him in skill.

Charles tells of his journey somewhere. Many hours of playing, lessons, gigging. It’s pretty amazing, though, how people hope to get good without help/instructors. KZbin is a maze of musicians-some might teach in an orderly way but they don’t know you, so they cannot customize the instruction like a private teacher. Keep in mind that very high level playing means years of development. Enjoy the journey.

Bassists I fell in love with and wanted to emulate are Chris Squire (YES), John Paul Jones (Zep), Steve Fossen (original Heart), Geddy Lee (RUSH), any bassist who played with Steely Dan, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel. Verdins White (EWF), Gary Strater (Starcastle), Tony Levin (one of the top asked for bassists for both studio and live), Paul McCartney (Beatles & solo), Billy Sheehan (from his own band to DLR to Steve Vai), Pat Badger (Extreme), Dave Hope (Kansas), and John Myung (Dream Theater). I could list more, but since I’m a ‘60 y/o’ multi-instrumentalist most of my life beginning at age 4 on classical piano. I’ve had the fortune to hear every one of these bassists in the days of their prime. I’d be very interested how many of my list you or anyone might know.

I think Charles is Now the most technically proficient bass player today...although Victor Wooten is still the "Ultimate Bassist in the World"...it's because of experience and should I say its Gods gift to him. The thing that impressed me with "Charles the Pro" is he can play anything on bass and not limited by technical difficulties..He taps, play melody and Chords at the same time and even does the "Slapocalypse" which I think is even better than Davie504 and mind you slap is Davie's forte, he ruled the Slap and Pop before and owned 99% of the bassist in KZbin because of that insane skill, but now Charles is even better at slap!!😲, so cheers CharlesthePro503!.👍

This is now my favorite rendition of my favorite piece of music I've ever heard. I don't know what kind of compliment could hold more power than to say this joins Wooten's live version at the podium. Some of the players who made me fall in love with the bass are Victor Wooten, Davie504, and some dude named Charles or something ;) I didn't come to enjoy bass until recent in life but my goal before I die is to play this piece as you have in this video.

It’s hard to believe I play the same instrument as Charles. I can’t wrap my mind around 90% of the stuff he does. Talent and skill at this level seems supernatural to me. It reminds me of the first time my bass teacher played Jaco for me. It was so far beyond my comprehension level it may as well have been aliens trying to communicate with me.

Your playing was FAR superior to his live performance. He has a ton of string noise, buzzing, and sloppy movements. Obviously he gets props for creating it, but some of your originals are equally beautiful and technically challenging. Bottom line, you are easily the greatest bass player I've ever listened to period. Your technique is flawless yet emotional. A really rare combo. I sure wish you would venture out into a Trio and tour or at least some recordings with top players. Anyone would be a fool not to have you on their record.

I enjoyed yours more than Victor Wootens solos because your solo's in my opinion are more articulated, clarified and your dexterity is better. No dissing or taking away from Victor Wooten as he's as a legend in his own right. You make it seem more effortless. Both Bassist and Guitar players would so love to have what you so effortless pull off. Your Energy input into what you do is infectious and exciting with a great sense of adventure. But also on the other hand you make me and others feel like we can do it also. You're very encouraging and inspiring to say the least.
