I've been using this setup for more than a year and really prefer it to the twist lock RV plugs. I bought 2 plugs for my rig. One on the 30 amp cord and one on a short 15 amp whip. The 30 amp cord would be used at a campground with hookups. Which I almost never do. However, the 15 amp cord gets used regularly at home when plugged in to the garage to run the fridge and get ready for a trip.

Brown on a plug maybe a loosely tightened screw causing an arch. My Rv had a loose ground causing the AC which requires a lot of power to operate to not turn on when plugged into Shore power using the plug. The ac would only work using the generator. Step one check the fuses, step two look for Brown spots on the plug. Bingo found browning on the actual female plug and the male connection on the Rv side. Take a part the Rv side of the plug and check for tightness of the screws clamping down on the male pins. Boom the ac now works.

I really like this idea, mine also melted the plug and I ended up replacing it

I've got plans to add this same setup to my 5th wheel in the next few weeks! Its setting on the shelf right now just waiting to get installed. I'm really impressed with quality of it and how much better it will work than the twist lock plug. Great upgrade!

Is there a safety recall on this? I just installed mine, wanting your opinion.

Awesome upgrade but I would add solder to the ends.

Everytime i plug my camper in i think there has got to be a better way. Thanks for the video! My next upgrade. Question, do you not need to disconnect batteries to do this?

No you do not have to disconnect the batteries for this MOD!
