You're right. There's some who don't want people to learn about the south's shameful history of slavery, Jim Crow, etc, and that's wrong.

@@RhondaA Not saying slavery was right, young lady. You're growing up in a way different age than me. History is important. Slavery is an integral part of Black history. The uneducated sector of our society doesn't understand the importance of history. We cannot ignore our past. We must learn from it and use that knowledge to improve our future!!! Regardless of what most our Democratic leaders force on us, we have to overcome and make our Nation one of cooperation and unity!!!

Some friends from WI spent a week with us in Charleston. The first day we ate at a great southern restaurant downtown. It was so good but closed not long after that. Our friend didn’t want to order fried okra so the server brought him a sample. He loved it and kept ordering it everyplace all week. I even showed him what it looks like in the produce department in a grocery store. Then back to WI where he said they don’t have it.

Yeah Charleston and the surrounding areas are definitely worth a weeks trip. Multiple different carriage and bike tours, ghost tours and Gullah tours. go to cypress gardens and paddle your own swamp boat, multiple plantations along the ahaley river like boone hall, magnolia, Middleton place. Beaches galore, go to johns island to the angel oak tree the largest live oak east of the Mississippi. Last but not least Edisto island the most unique and beautiful island in America (other than the Hawaiian islands of course 😊) and many more this is just me thinking off the top of my head. Lots of history and rich culture soak it up. Very few places in america like it, i would say a one of a kind city but im biased as i live in Summerville 😂.

Hi Will and Dawn. You two make Charleston look like so much fun. I have not been in years. I think that first bridge you saw was the Ravenel bridge. It replaced two very rickety wooden bridges not too long ago. Another place to add to your Charleston must-see places is Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Especially in the Spring when the azaleas are just blooming and the camellias are blooming. They have a nature trail you can walk that ends at the famous white bridge with the reflection in the black water pond. It also has the Audubon garden where the famous 1960's movie "Swamp Thing" was filmed. It is part of a rookery and in the spring you can watch all the baby cranes begin to take flight. Thanks for bringing back so many happy memories. Happy Birthday Dawn.

Every time I see you’re intro where you are at Lamperts I want to go to the one in Missouri. Couple of years ago on a road trip my daughter and I were in Charleston and we stayed at The Old Citadel hotel by Hilton it was amazing. We shopped at the market. In one of the shops there was red hat I wanted but didn’t get, have regretted it ever since. Is that honeysuckle or jasmine? I bought a bag from a lady in the marketplace. She had sewn it and I still use it today.
