WE love you *Charley Pride* , and will miss you so much. My aunt introduced me to your music and entrancing voice on cassettes back in the early 1980s. You never let others' thoughts about skin tones effect your inner strength and progress in life. You reached up for the stars and grabbed some. As a middle aged white man I wanna say, my hat is off to you, and I admire you for always.

If he were white, the crowd would have blown up and went ape shit like the 100+ videos I've seen of this era. That shit annoys me. Music knows no color. This crowd is trash.

I was just a youngin and loved Charlie Pride ,however the first time I saw him on Hee Haw I ran and told my old man that a black man was singing Charlie Pride songs... The ole man just laughed and told me he was a black man. I was dumbfounded,,, changed my whole view on race and ethnicity. From there I fell deep into Motown and music from the 60's. I'd love to have thanked the man for that.

What a story! My mom had his songs on LPs. Ok that ages me haha.

Steve Cropper said the same about Otis Redding. Steve's dad was a racist and a bigot but as soon as Otis walked into his house, he changed completely. That's the way to beat racism\.

That's hilarious because on my cousin's side his great-grandfather thought the same thing the first time you saw Charlie Pride he had no clue that he was a black man

As a black man who grew up listening to Cal Smith, Dolley Parton and Waylon, Willie and The Boys; I’d never heard or seen a black man sing in this genre. Pleasantly, l was surprised to see that a black man sung this classic. I was happy that he was accepted by all country music fans. My hometown is only 50 minutes from his (Sledge, MS) in the Mississippi Delta. So l was doubly proud and happy. He’s truly revered at home and l will miss him. Thank you Charley for opening up so many doors for others to follow. You was truly a trailblazer and a LEGEND! You will be missed ..... RIP🕊

Check out Stoney Edwards, I only found him through youtube, but I knew his song "She's my Rock" from a George Jones cover. His career never took off but good music

A voice you never get tired of. And also Jesus on my knees again. This guy was a true country singer. And it's funny because most people thought Charlie Pride was white. Man boy were they shocked LOL rest in peace my brother love you. Song about Jesus and now he's with Jesus the father. And now he's singing for Jesus in heaven. Hallelujah praise the Lord God😇♥️
